mountain4greys
24th June 2008 - 09:23 AM
Doing home visits are great. I love trying to make sure a greyhound will be happy in a new home
mom2greys
24th June 2008 - 05:40 PM
I think it's pretty cool myself. I get to get a hold of the person and set up the time and all of that. I'm excited.
Beryl
24th June 2008 - 06:24 PM
I think all groups should do home visits especially for first time adopters. I never had one
mountain4greys
24th June 2008 - 07:02 PM
Home visits are a very important part of adoption, in my book at least. You try really hard to weed the nondesirables out. I have one coming up myself.
Beryl
24th June 2008 - 07:29 PM
I am glad Going Home Greyhounds is starting Home Visits
mountain4greys
25th June 2008 - 08:53 AM
Me to Beryl. Every group should do that. I know a group that doesn't, and you wouldn't believe the return rate they get. It's not fair to the hounds.
Beryl
25th June 2008 - 09:50 AM
I do believe that home visits are a must and I hope these groups check references especially vet visits. I did read about vaccines are not needed annually hope that does not harm the hounds will post it..I have sent it to Ask the Vet on GHG
mountain4greys
25th June 2008 - 12:20 PM
Let me know how that goes with the vet Beryl. This coming year when my senior girl get her shots again, she's only going to get rabies. (if she needs that, I can't remember.) Rabie shot here are for 2 years.
Beryl
25th June 2008 - 01:54 PM
We can get Rabies for 3 years here if you have proof that they have had rabies in the past (shots that is)
mountain4greys
25th June 2008 - 05:19 PM
In MD they are 3 years also, and born and raised there, that's what I was used to until we moved here. It takes a long time to get used to new rules and laws.
Beryl
25th June 2008 - 05:24 PM
I like the three year deal on rabies. Did you see the post about vaccines saying that they might be every three years too.

I knew Mardy was a little nervous last night because of the fireworks. I was going to bed, and Mardy doesn't come upstairs, but she just stared at me when I went up. So I came down, got her on the first step, and she went up to the bedroom.
Those soulful eyes were looking so hard at me when I went up the stairs, I just had to come back for her. She's never slept upstairs with Holly and Gracie, so last night I grabbed a bed for her, and she was very happy, and slept like a baby.
