One of my girls has a habit of chewing, not all the time, just whenever she wants to. There really is no rhyme or reason for it that I can see. I was sitting in the bathroom this morning and she walks up to the doorway and starts chewing on the trimwork. The other day she walks over to the chair that I was sitting in and starts chewing away on the chair. She will go for months without chewing anything in the bedroom and all of a sudden she'll chew the headboard.
Is she trying to tell me something? Does anyone elses dogs do this? Does anyone know why she might be doing this?

Our girl Mardy did this for a short time. We had had her for a good while with no problems. We didn't crate her when we left to go anywhere. (never gone long anyway). But one night after coming home from eating out, she came into the computer room, and started chewing on a 2 drawer wooden file cabinet. She even made sure I was looking first. A couple days later, we came home from dinner, and after I sat down on the couch, she walked over to the steps, looked back to make sure I was looking, and started to chew. A quick no stopped her, but in a couple of weeks, she did this a couple of times. Then out of nowhere, it all stopped.
We just figured she was telling us not to go out in the evening. I wish I could help you, but I know what you're going through.
