95 degrees yesterday, with increasing humidity. I knew it was warm and dumb me, I changed over purses yesterday and left my inhaler in my other purse, went to church and I had a hard time breathing, I won't make that mistake again, I really don't feel like going to the E.R. Today its going to be in the mid-90's again, the humidity is really building, bad hair day.

When I saw that this thread was active, I thought for sure that you would be talking about these T-storms. We have had some really wild ones this week. My Bookie never reacted to them when Kixie was alive, but now that I have no older female here she is getting skittish. She just shakes and shakes during storms. I wondering if this is how Thunderphobias get started... today I took her down to the rec room in the basement. We could hardly hear the weather up here from down there - we're expecting another wave after 9:00 so I really need to quit dorkin around on the web and get sewing while I still have electricity. I promised six 4th of July collars to a GPA chapter in Florida and they MUST go out tomorrow morning... I am such an awful procrastinator.

Yesterday was nice, not toohot and not as humid as last week. So I figured it would be a good afternoon to give the big pups thier Venesin or how ever you spell it, popcicles! Yep, frozen bones from my nephew. I did not hear a peep out of those 3 for 2 hours! That was the end of those bones until next hunting season. Since they enjoyed them so much in the frozen state I am contemplating giving them thier turkey necks frozen as well. I still can't find a store around here who will sell me a package of just chicken necks to give to the Iggies. I think I will talk to the buther up at our farmers market. I only carries beef but I am sure he will know someone. I just hope the next few days stay in the low to mid 80's with lower humidity. The dogs really love laying out inthat weather.

Pittsburgh and what we got at 8 am is heading east with more to come through here. We have a lot of flash flooding and areas that were hit on Sunday got it again this morning. One shop owner said it looked like Lake Erie coming down the main street. Those of us that live on the hills of Pgh are lucky it is the ones that live in the low areas, near the rivers and of course near the creeks and streams. I remember about 7 years ago we were babysitting for my youngest girl and I saw emergency lights flashing in her window and looked out side and saw police on the street where she lived. Told Dave to see what was going on and lo and behold the creek that ran in front of her house had flooded almost half her property. We had to get permission off of the police to leave her house when they got home. We had to go 10 to 15 miles out of our way to get home as a lot of the ramps to the bridges to cross the Mon River were flooded. So instead of us getting home in 5 minutes it took us almost an hour. There is also what they call the Flood Plain here also and where my daughter lives is know as the flood plain

Yep, it's heading my way. I'm fortunate since I'm also on a hill of sorts - it's called Queens Borough Hill and is the highest point on Long Island so everything flows down BUT getting 8 dogs out to do their business and then drying them off is definitely a work-out.

9th August 2007 - 02:51 PM
Sounds like another storm coming this way hear a lot of rumbling and getting dark. Sun was out for a while and dried the street but back yard still looks like a mud hole. People are still cleaning up and I guess they will get hit again. Some of these creeks where a lot of the flooding is coming from needs dredged but it has not been done plus a lot of run off from new developement plans, etc that they did not put in adequate drainage. Or they are trying to get 10# of doo doo in a 1 # hole.

Forgot when my hounds get wet we had better have a towel at the door to dry them off or we will never hear the end of it. Belle usually doesn't mind as she is the only one that lies in the pool. Pool Belle no pool for her for a while but she still will get toweled off after a good shake...

yes it is getting stranger like today we usually do not get back to back thunder storms. In regards to the Tornado I do like up on this hill which is hell in winter but at this time greyt no flooding and the last tornado we had it came along the Mon and the main street where it knocked a giant concrete cross off of the steeple of the church at the bottom of my hill. The said it just swirled around and just about floated down. They told me that a lot of people watching it were kneeling. It did some damage on the level area along the main drag. Trees down, siding off, roofs off and broken window. All we had up here were some gusty wind.
