Full Version: I'm taking a stand

I was talking with a group that was interested in helping no cat dogs find homes, I came to the realization that to make the program work we would have to work with the kennels that we could count on to hold the dogs and not send them back to the owner or whatever. They might also have to do some extra communication, research and travel just to get a few no cat dogs petted out. These are all things that I had to do when I had my kennel and honestly, I didn't think twice about it. It's what you have to do if you want to find homes for your dogs.

After realizing that the only kennels that I could count on to help were the 100% adoption kennels, I have come to the point that I'm going to come up with a plan and program dedicated to helping those kennels. They are constantly being passed up by the groups because they consider their dogs safe. The groups are running these kennels, the kennels that I believe should be supported and fully support the effort of the adoption groups, out of the business.

I am tired of seeing adoption groups threatened into taking dogs, tired of seeing groups being taken advantage of.

I am going to try to come up with ways to help the 100% adoption kennels stay in business. They are the ones that need the most help and they are doing what I believe is the right thing.

I don't exactly know how I'm going to do this, I welcome any suggestions and comments.

Any groups interested in helping, feel free to contact me.

The thing that gets me real upset is the fact that the dog people run around threatening the pet people that if they don't take their dogs they're going to kill them- then they get all upset when people are running around saying that there's so many dogs killed every year. Half the time I find the dogs in another adoption group up north- they just wanted to save the hauling money or don't want to wait 2 weeks until the hauler comes through again, it's just so much easier to threaten the pet people. emo-th_headbangwall.gif

When the alert of a closing comes out, the panic posts comes. I know some are really urgent but one I read about I found out all the dogs where safe and not in any harm. Totally different then what was posted on another board.

The email that came out when Melbourne closed came from the (then) VP of the group that I did the most work with at the time. I was sitting at the computer and opened what she had posted to our Yahoo group as soon as it came in. I was appalled and absolutely speechless. I called the head of the group immediately and told her what was posted. Actually the post she had on the Yahoo group was twice as bad and incorrect as the email that was posted all over.

The part that was so upsetting to me was just the week before she had created a situation involving a trainer that was so upset that he threatened me and 3 dogs. I really thought that she would have learned from that, apparently not.

She had a chance to stop that Melbourne email. She chose to tell the other lady from our group to post to all the groups that she knew of, then she blamed her. She accomplished nothing and made stuff worse, not better.

She didn't learn from that either. When Tampa closed she did the same thing, only this time she had to take the blame, she couldn't blame it on anybody else. She now heads an AR group and not many kennels will give her dogs.
