MISSY&DUKESMOM

Duke just celebrated his 8th birthday 10/16 and it was also Missy's gotcha day (3 years prior to us getting Duke). Duke is a big boy. He's 87 lbs and all muscle. Looks very intimidating even with his one crooked ear (which I love!). He's such a baby. I received a package, emptied the fairly large box and put the empty box in the kitchen. He could see it from his position on his bed. He got up, walked clear across to the other side of the room and wouldn't move until the box was in the garage and out of sight. Missy on the other hand doesn't let anything bother her. She adjusts to every situation and takes everything in stride. She's the one who runs to the door barking like a vicious dog when someone is there. Duke goes along for the "ride". I think it might have something to do with the fact that she was 3 1/2 when we got her (she's 9) and has no race history. I don't think she was on the track very long and if she was, it must have been ok for her. Good!! Duke had his last race (raced 98 times) in August 2004 and we took him home 10/19/04. Met him on the 16th of Oct, gave him his bath, and had to leave him so he could go to the vet that Sunday for neutering shots etc. We were allowed to take him home Tues 10/19/07. His birthday is Oct 16th so we were his birthday present!! I love my dogs so much -- can't imagine my life without them. Lorraine

Happy birthday and Happy Gotcha Day! Yes, thanks for sharing your story. I love hearing how people find their hounds - or how the Greyhounds find their people.
