Full Version: What a huge heads up
xracers
I don't know if alot of people realize that quite a few of the people that haul pets don't have the radio on while they are driving. It helps with hearing potential problems with the trucks, tires and scuffles between dogs that are together in the same compartment in the trailer or dog truck. In trying to keep on top of those potential problems, it also creates another one- we are cut off to bad situations as far as traffic is concerned.

Greyhound Welfare gave me a heads up to a bridge problem in DC that could have been a nightmare if I would have gone the way I normally take around DC. Traffic was backed up 10 miles when they called me to find out if I was planning on taking that way and it really would have been disasterous if I would have taken that loop. They provided me with an alternate route and saved the day as far as I'm concerned!

Thank you Greyhound Welfare peeps!!!

I highly recommend that any groups that see a problem like that developing along a route to call and make sure the hauler knows about it. The temperature wasn't an issue because it was cold up there but the dogs tend to get real restless when you get stuck in traffic. It was a ten mile back up at the time when they called and I could have very easily got stuck for many hours with no place to turn around.

They really saved the day!

We heard about that. Glad you were able to get an alternate route.

I just dropped dogs to GW yesterday and I love the way that they have coats for the dogs. Poor dogs jump out of the warm truck or trailer into the chilly temps up there and they're cold as soon as they take two steps from the truck. It's really nice that GW has nice coats for them to wear.

GW rocks!!!

I was just catching up on reading post and found this one. I can tell ya that cheap garmon gps works great for warning you about traffic tie ups. We got one with the rental car while in L.A. CA last month and it was a Godsend for sure! They had down pours for a week and then of course there were mud slides. Talk about tying up traffic. It was a dang nightmare! But the little cheap model from Garmon helped us avoid the mess.
