Full Version: Compact has been signed
If someone were smart, they'd build a casino, a real casino, around dog racing. Change the face of dog racing. Make it part of the attraction. Make it comfortable and part of a resort/casino. People would get excited about it again and there would be so many eyes watching, the dogs would have to be well treated.
Amazing how "ethics" go South when more revenue is in reach.

This was the most indepth article I've seen about the compact and according to the article the indians are the only ones, besides the parimutuels that have the slots already, that can ever get slots of any type.
Slots are what everyone has been waiting for- this is not good if it stands.
The tracks have already gone to the legislature screaming that they can't make any money with the dogs running- that's why they passed the legislation here to let the tracks run just a few months a year. That's what allowed Tampa and Melbourne to close. I'm sure the tracks will go running to the legislature again to try to stop racing all together. That would be the next logical step.
