Full Version: Our guys are sick
dad2paisley
Our guys are sick. It started with Suzy on Monday with the Big D. She is on medicine and it's getting better not as runny. Lincoln had the Big D yesterday, when we got home, his crate was nothing but yuk. He seems to be alittle better today. Bear, has been throwing up water liquid on both ends. Trish is taking him in this morning to the vet.
So far Milky, who has an iron stomach hasn't got it yet.
We have been feeding them rice, pumpkin and high factor can food from the vet.
We are hoping Bear is ok and they can give him something for what he has. All our cats are ok.

Oh my!!
It always worries me when the dogs are not feeling well with all the food recalls.
Rocky has a sensitive tummy and skips meals sometimes. His tummy gurgles, bad. After some chicken and rice he starts eating again.

Hoping for a speedy recovery!!

How about giving them that big juicy steak you were going to eat tonight. laugh.gif

Hope they feel better soon!! Wonder if it had anything to do with Bear coming in? Maybe he had a parasite on him? Keep us posted!!

They are keeping Bear overnight at our vets. Vet thinks it's just a bug he got from our other dogs. They are doing blood work and putting Bear on IV fluids. Being a puppy, his immune system isn't as strong our our older greys.

Poor little fella.

Suzy and Lincoln ate breakfast like normal this morning and were out chasing the birds in our backyard. They seem to be getting better. We still have them on rice, high factor can food from our vet and Suzy still has some more pills to take for a few more days.

I hope all your babies are feeling right as rain as soon as possible. I am glad to here the big guys are starting to feel better. What is high factor food? Does it have high caloric values or something?
Can greys get like a 24-48 hrs stomach flu like people do?

High factor food has alot of calories and good for the Big D. It's something that won't upset their tummies.
Yes, they can get it for 24-48hrs like people. Suzy got it Monday and today she is feeling much better. Lincoln got it Tuesday and he is starting to get better. Bear, got it last night/this morning. Milky, who has an iron stomach, didn't catch it.

D2P, Keep us updated, Really hope its nothing serious. Older Hounds sound good, Little Bear is a concern. Those pups sometime get to feeling sorry for themselves, and don't know whats good for them. rolleyes.gif

Update from Trish

Just talked to the vet and Bear is acting more puppy like. When someone walks by he lifts his head and whines and he tries to take his IV out. Most of his blood work came back normal. White Blood Count is borderline high so they are sending it out to the lab to get a better read on the test then they can get in-house. They are going to start him on some Flygal just in case and he's had pepcid and reglyn to settle his little tummy. They are going to try to feed him a little bland canned food tonight. If he's doing ok he can come home tomorrow or at the latest Friday. I'm so relieved that the little guy is doing better. I was in tears when I left him. He looked so weak this morning.

Suzy and Linclon are bad to their old selves. Suzy had a little tummy rumbles this morning but other then that they are ok.
Waiting for the dr to call us back about Bear. They said Bear was acting puppies last night , ate some food and was trying to pull out the iv.

Have they checked him for Giardia ?? It has alot of those symptoms and it really affects puppies. just read this post and would put him on Flagyl
dad2paisley
All is well now. We gave him flagyl and some other medicine our vet recommended. I never saw the pills that smally cut up for Bear.

Our other guys all had their yearly checkup last week and they are all fine, they got all their shots etc.
greydaddy
Just seeing this. Glad they are all better.
