I am sick and tired of seeing Oprah and other celebrities trying to pull their stardom in getting us to vote for the candidate they like.
I now hate Oprah. It looks to me that these politicians wanting to be President can't win the job on their own and need this celebrities to help them.

I agree with you 100% on this! I don't even watch Oprah anymore, I get tired of hearing the garbage.

I like her when she was in Baltimore with Richard Sher and the morning program. I don't like her now.

I agree... why do people need a so called big star's endorsment to vote.

There is no purpose in this except to get the fans to vote the same way. I would think this could backfire, because if the person Oprah or any other celebrity voted for turned out to be a really bad president, the voters who followed their celebrity would really be mad, and not watch them anymore.
Celebrities really need to keep their mouths shut.
Rant over.

OKRA (oops) Ophra and the rest of the celebs are not within my realm of caring. The conversation with my daughter over lunch today went something like this:
Me: Why do people find these celebrities so fascinating and cant seem to get enough of them?
Marian: People like watching the train wreck.
Me: Still dont get it!
Marian: Thats why you always have to ask me who these people are.
Me: Maybe its time to quit asking
BTW I live in a NO SPRINGER ZONE.

Oprah had a proffessional fitness trainer on the other day, (Tracy Anderson) who was promoting a diet of approx. 600-650 calories per day, 2 hours of training every day in temps 80 or above, and for women to never lift any weights over 3 lbs. Good grief! I believe they call that Anorexia don't they?!
I never actually watch this show. Some ladies at a fitness board posted some articles on her. Very disturbing.

What!! That is crazy were did she get her training and certification from? As a fitness competitor, I train with heavy weights three times a week, I eat every three hours, in other words, six meals a day and every one of my meals includes protein and complex cards, "good" carbs. I do cardio six days a week, 40 minutes, plus my routine training, which can be another hour or two three times a week. As far as weights I bench press 135 pounds, leg press 450 pounds, dumb bell squat 80 pounds, with the bar, 250 pounds, bicep curls, 25 -30 pounds depending on the exercise my trainer has me doing, tricpes pull downs 60 -80 pounds , side laterals with the dumb bells, 20 - 25 pounds, shoulder press, depending in front or behind the neck 40 pounds , for my back, lat pull downs 90 pounds, plus many many pull ups, that just some of my weights I lift as an athlete, plus all my different abd work outs with and without weights. With that type of trainer, how on earth are women suppose to get strong and maintain bone density? We need a good and healthy diet to fuel our bodies and to increase our metabolism to burn off body fat, plus lots and lots of water, I drink a gallon a day, I LOVE water! Sorry, I just just had to vent, people like that burn me up.

My off competition weight is 120 pounds, competition 116 pounds and my body fat ranges from 12% off season and competition time 6% at 5 feet 2 inches.

Patricia~ I know, I know, burns me up too!
This Tracy Anderson gal, she basically talks about getting skinny, and says nothing about health. I say woman look their best when they are at their heathiest, not at their skinniest.
Your workout sounds incredible! I used to be a gym rat. 8 yrs ago I was able to squat 195. Currently I have been working out exclusivley at home, using videos, doing dumbbells up to 12 lbs so far, and then I do supplementary exercise, such as deadlifts, extra push-ups, and etc.
I want to be strong healthy and fit! (weight loss isn't an issue, I lean towards ectomorph) Also, I am hoping aging will be much kinder to me by being fit.
Anyways, shame on Oprah for having Tracy on her show and promoting her unhealthy approach!

I agree, I love working out and the results. This is the wrong message to give to women and men of course. Keep up the good work Henrysmom, don't you feel good and refresh after your workout.

Patricia, oh man do I ever! I feel incredible after a workout!!! I wrote a little blog entry a while ago about that:
http://fithealthymommy.blogspot.com/2008/0...ver-valley.html It's feels good to be alive and be able to use my body in an active way!

(we need a weightlifting smiley!)
If you look at the rest of the blog, I want to say, sorry my head is cut off in all the pics. I try to remain anonymous in that blog in case of potential 'weirdos' out there.

Cool, I don't blame you, too many crazies out there. I'm hoping that after my next competition I'm going to design my own web page with the help of my brother, D2P, with pictures from my shows, stats, bio, fitness tips, including the benefits of yoga and pilates , low impact aerobics, which I teach, I'm a certified fitness instructor and I teach classes at my trainer's gym and Worlds Gym, which was taken over by Energy Fitness. I love teaching and I must say I have the best students in the world! I'll be updating the fitness section this weekend on this board.

Wow, D2P is your brother, I didn't know that!
I would LOVE to see a website from you!
I need some advice on my workouts. Working out at home makes it difficult to get advice from others, and workout articles make my head spin. I seem to have hit plateau. It's difficult cause I'm not going to a gym right now. My husband is a paraplegic and needs my help, and I am homeschooling two kids. It's tough to find the money or time for a gym. So I am doing what I can at home.
I have noticed the more I weigh, the better I look. I'm at 102 lbs right now, and when I was going to a gym, I was 105. Anyways, I look forward to discussing fitness with you more in the future, over in the health area. I think we have gotten a little OT over here.
