When I got home from my family Christmas, Dear gave me a pretty good present for someone who just had a 4 lb tumor removed & has lost about 14 lbs altogether. He was happy to see me when I came home, he galloped around the yard and he finally scarfed down all the 2 cans of dogfood with green bean juice & melted cheese on it.
So what did your poopies give you for Christmas?

Glad you brought this up...
On the weekends, I'll wake up DH when I'm getting ready to go to the grocery store, then let the hounds back into the bedroom to "wake up Dad!" before I go. Chloe jumps on the bed, give lots of kisses, snuggles, wiggles, really get into giving Dad loves to wake him up. Tip will jump on the bed, wag his tail, but pretty much hang at the end of the bed and just watch the goings on.
Well, Christmas morning the pups and I decided DH had slept long enough - it was 8:00am for goodness sake! on Christmas morning! there were PUPPIES PREZZIES TO OPEN!!!! Anyway, I opened the bedroom door, told the pups, "Go wake Dad!" and TIP flung himself on the bed, all wiggles and licks, tail going a mile a minute. He snuggled right up to DH and flipped over onto his back in a full roach, just as pleased as could be.
Chloe, meantime, had been jumping on and off and across the bed, grabbing toys and flinging them around. As soon as Tip roached, snuggled up next to DH, she draped herself across Tip's belly and DH's chest. All that was left for me to do was crawl back in bed next to Tip, and we had a wonderful pile of people and pups for our first Christmas morning together.

Today is the day we do Christmas at our house, since we see family all day on Christmas.
The puppers let us sleep in 2 extra hours to start with. They know something is going to happen, and they are patiently waiting.
Soon the fun will begin. Each of the 6 greyhounds ( our 5 and 1 foster) will have 11 presents each to open. All are individually wrapped.
For their dinner, they will get their regular meal, with a can of sardines mixed in.
Unfortunately, I don't have a digital camera, so it'll be a while before I can post pictures.
Pupdate to follow later in the day.

I'm glad you mentioned sardines...so its okay for me to give Dear some sardines with his food? I'm trying everything to get him to eat.

I had heard somewhere that sardines were good for them. I think any problem would be they might be to oily, and it'll depend on each pups tummy to decide if it's ok. The oil is good for the skin and coat.
I tried giving mine sardines a while back, and they went nuts! I won't give them the sardines all the time, but every now and then.
I would try them with Dear and see if he likes them. If he does like mine do, then maybe that'll help him eat more to get that weight back on.
I also wouldn't add a whole can to his food. (I did say I would be adding a can to mine's food at dinnertime), but mine won't get a whole can each. That might be to much.
Let us know how it goes if you try it.

Please don't flame me, I gave him a can of sardines with some food...and I forgot to take the camera into the kitchen...I'm sorry!
Oh the look on his face...and the cats came from all their napping places! He ate all his food, AFTER I put it on a plate, evidently he doesn't like the food going up his nose.
Snowy came in & weaseled her way thru everyone & I let her lick the plate when he was finished. I might add some of the safflower oil I bought also, to her food...she's got a really soft coat but she could use some sparkle.

Not to drag this thread too far off course, but I give my hounds sardines, too. If you look for 'em, you can sometimes find sardines packed in water. I usually pick up a case of ten cans at Sam's Club for under ten bucks. The sardines are packed in oil, but since I don't feed it everyday, I don't worry about it too much. I split one can between the two dogs, with a few bites for the kitties. They absolutely LOVE those nasty little fishies

Its okay if we get on sardines,
Last night Dear was laying on the bed, my black/white cat walked by, stopped & went back to smell Dear's face & then quietly started licking Dear's face...Dear woke up & wasn't all that mad...amazingly.
OH he actually trotted behind the cat the other night...he never chases the cat, obviously he's feeling better!!!

I had to come back & read this...
I miss him terribly....but I know where he is, he's eating without sardines....he sure had a funny look on his face when he smelled them. He was very popular with the cats.
