Greyt news on the run a way
Just brought Softee home and I am amazed how well she is. Not groggy from anesthesia and not limping as much as she did before. He took off the whole toe and said he went high will get sutures out in 2 weeks. He also took off a papiloma (sp?) off of her upper thigh will get back to you later. If you want to post this information until I can get to it go ahead

She is very alert which suprised me as the other pups are usually very groggy after surgery. Vet says she is in good shape for her age and very healthy. Guess we must be doing something right. Also, he told us with all that she eats (sometimes 5 cups food/day) that she is probably only using about 60% of what she is eating hence she eats more. Also, giving her puppy food is also good for her.

How is Softee doing!!!
Beryl
10th February 2008 - 11:10 AM
Softee is doing greyt - she is hardly limping compared to how bad she limped before surgery. She is also doing her poopy trot where she paces back and forth for a few minutes before dumping. Every so often she does play the con game when we bag her to go outside. She is wearing an old baby sock over the bandage which is keeping it very clean and then when she goes out we double bag her foot with newspaper plastic sleeves. Have not heard from Dr. O'Leary on the biospy yet but was told by a RN at work it is usually 10 working days before you get the results. Softee goes back to the vet on Thursday for suture removal

The poopy dance? Gotta see that!!!
Beryl

I have two that really does the pacing back and forth before they poo and Softee waits until it is almost out of her. Jams also does it and Belle does it also but has a special dance to get her feet situated so she can dump and it is only in one spot

The amputated toe showed Squamous Cell Carcinoma - We were told to watch her for any problems and the biopsy report stated that this is common with large breed older dogs. In a study 95% survived 1 year after amputation and 74% 2 years. Will try and copy and post some of the biopsy report

She is not limping anymore, she is eating and had tomato soup on some dry food today for lunch. On the way home from the vet she yammered the whole way and we thought she had to potty but no we think she was telling us off. When they removed the sutures she started yowling but I think it was the way the tech was holding her Softee as times does a touch me not yowl

Softee started yammering this evening and was heard in Canada. Yep, we were on the phone with Verizon and he heard her and thought she was getting killed. What happened was she went to get up and she was sitting with her leg over her leg (the rear legs). At first I thought she had broke her leg until I took her blanket off of her and saw the problem. I just took the leg off of the leg under neath and she was fine.

I think at least once a week, everyone should post a thread on how their poopies are doing. Even if its just a "here's my doggie & they're doing good".
I feel very close to all of ya'll & I want to be there for you in the good & bad, just like ya'll were when Dear was sick & then crossed.

Today she ate all her dinner and then half of Jams - dear Ms. Jams decided to walk away from hers and Softee very nicely started to eat it. Mom did make another bowl of food for Jams. Last night she was a bottomless pit and ate a grand total of 3 1/2 cups of food between 7 pm and midnight.

When Daddy came home from work she ate again the first time 1 1/4 cups of food and then demanded more so he gave her 1 1/2 cups. I don't know where she puts it all and does not gain an ounce. Weighed her on Valentines day and she weighs 53 pounds which is very close to her racing weight.
