What the heck was I thinking?! It's the middle of winter, for goodness sakes! Didn't I do this last winter when I adopted Jack & Chloe? I swore I would never have puppies in the house again. But I couldn't resist. Listen to her story, and I'm sure you wouldn't be able to, either.

Two weeks ago a young couple were taking their garbage to a garbage transfer site in Salcha, a little community about 40 miles south of here. In the dumpster they were using they saw a snow covered box. I don't know what made them notice the box, but they did. They pulled out the box and inside was an emaciated almost dead puppy. They brought the pup home and nursed her back to health. Unfortunately, their landlord won't let them have dogs, even darling little rescued by the skin of their teeth cute as pie puppy dogs. The couple contacted us and now I have an unpotty trained, rambunctious, can't stop wagging her tail, loves to give kisses, bundle of wiggles. And it's -40. Oh my.

Here are some pictures. We're pretty sure she's a pit mix, but feel free to throw out your best guess. She's about 9 weeks old and a total land shark. Her name is Misty.

Here she is next to Chloe. You can see how tiny she is. Chloe's less than 60lbs and VERY fine boned.

What a cutie!!!! No puppy deserves the horrible death she would have had if not for these caring people.
And I'm so glad you're fostering this little girl. It's so nice to know there are people out there willing to help a poor little animal have a chance at life. emo-th_clapping.gif

Unsurprisingly, we've already had considerable interest in her. Who could resist that face? Two folks came over yesterday to meet her and couldn't resist her little landshark charms emo-hehe.gif . I'm doing reference and vet checks on some people today with (I hope) a home visit this afternoon.

Wish this little girl luck. She deserves a great home after such a rocky start.

The home visit went great! The couple lost their dog (a bully type mix) a couple months ago at age 15, so they have experience with the breed. Lots of laminate and tile throughout the house, so puppy accidents will not be an issue *laughs*. They were totally receptive to all the Puppy 101 info I gave them, asked a lot of great questions, and were happy to adopt through an organization that provided after adoption help with training and behavior stuff. When I left, puppy was sleeping in the lap of one of the young women and the kitty was sniffing the puppy's nose. Happy little family.

I got a couple updated pictures of the puppy the other day and I thought I'd share them. Her new name is Jaida and her new best friend is Malacai.

Jaida and her people came over for a play date yesterday and she was soooo cute. She's just 10 weeks old now, but growing so nicely, especially after her rocky start. One of the girls is able to take her to work with her occasionally, and there are other dogs there for her to socialize with, and the other girl doesn't start work again until April, so this little pup has the best of both worlds while she's still developing.
