Full Version: Toughest Track in the Country

I saw this and thought I would ask it here. What do you think is the toughest track?

Hmmm, I didn't post on this on the other forum (frankly because I am a member there for informational purposes), but I think I will here.

Tough tracks...well there is always the thinking that the higher the payout, the stiffer the competition. And I guess that is somewhat true. But I am also a gambler, and look at it from that perspective too. Obviously, Wheeling, Tri-State, Lincoln, and DL are some of the toughest. But for me, the competition at Orange Park is pretty dang tough. I don't consistently win there, whereas the other tracks I frequent I do win on a regular basis. So I would definitely put them up there in the rankings. Any other thoughts??

Wheeling and Orange Park I agree are 2 of the toughest tracks.

Wheeling and Lincoln have the toughest competition. The toughest track for a dog to retire from and find a couch is probably Jefferson County, Hinsdale and Belmont. Belmont will have a chance to change that at the end of their season this year but it will take quite an effort. None of the dogs are good enough to race any where else.

Why is it hard for dogs to find couches from those tracks? ... just to let you know my Tyson is a Hinsdale dog.

Seasonal tracks are basically a track closing, which results in hundreds of dogs needing to move at the same time. Often the dogs will not be competitive at another track so there is no point in moving them. Adoption groups can only take so many.

Back in the day tracks like Belmont would run their meets and PTS most of the dogs at the end of the season. You don't have to believe me, get in touch with a trainer who will tell you the same thing.
