JEFFERSON COUNTY, WV - Four people have been killed in a tragic accident caused by icy roads.
Police say the victims are all Hispanic males that were on their way to work at a construction site in West Virginia.
It happened just before 7:00 Wednesday morning on Route 340 near Chestnut Hill Road in Jefferson County.
Three victims were pronounced dead on the scene. A fourth died a short time later at Jefferson Memorial Hospital.
Police say the treacherous road conditions were the cause.
"The van began to fishtail. The tractor trailer then struck the van pretty much head-on," says Sergeant Robert Sell of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department.
Police aren't releasing the names of the victims until they notify the families. At least one victim still has not been identified.
Authorities say the driver of the tractor trailer is not being held responsible.

Because I live high on a hill overlooking the Shenandoah River and the bridge crossing the river, this accident could be seen from my house. The accident happened in the gap between 2 mountains along the river. Traffic coming into WV from MD and visa vera was at a stand still. Things were very icy this morning and are now just starting to get somewhat better. (I think)
