NBC25 NEWS - The owner of the first beagle to ever win the Westminster Kennel Club dog show has ties to the Four-State region.
Uno's owner, Edmund Dziuk (pictured), lives in Columbia, Missouri, but he's originally from Hagerstown. His mother still lives in Washington County.
Dziuk graduated from Saint Maria Goretti High School and became interested in these dog shows when he was a teenager.
Years later, he has become the proud owner of the three-year-old beagle who made history by winning the show's top prize.
Wednesday, they were both running around giving out more than a dozen interviews.
Uno received a standing ovation when he was announced the winner Tuesday night. Since then, he's been very busy keeping up with the media attention.
He had been on TV all day and needless to say, he's “dog” tired.

I think this is pretty cool. Even though I'm in WV, I'm just across the river from Washington County, MD. That's also where the rescue group I work with is from. We also do meet and greets in Hagerstown, which is very close.
I grew up with beagles, so it was nice to see one win, although I don't want beagles anymore.
