Well today we got another report. Several people saw the dog this afternoon but lost it in the search...
So I get the "search & rescue" email asking for someone to come help. I'm more than 25 miles from the site & its 4:30, getting dark...but I go. My gut feeling was just go poke around & maybe you'll find him.
I read all the time about the searches & how the dogs are not found for months. We had a search & rescue back in December & luckily both dogs were found...it was so cold & one of the dogs actually had on PJ's. You just don't know how difficult the searches are until you take part in them. Driving up & down the streets, asking people if they've seen the dog, going down alleys...and if you're not careful, going into not so pleasant neighborhoods.
The area this dog is loose in is a nicer section of Memphis, but we've been told tonight, that its crossing a very very very busy street in down town Memphis. Someone has put a feeding station out. No one has reported it missing to the adoption kennel, to the newspaper & there are no signs out.
Our "rescue" coordinator is going to put fliers out tomorrow, we've got a DJ who owns 2 greyhounds who will do several spots on his show in the morning. We handed out business cards this evening.
But man...this is tough work. We had descent weather this afternoon, but it was turning off cold.
I applaude those who do this alot.
to all those involved, I hope your able to find this dog soon.
