Nature is a very shy and timid girl, nothing like Sky and Time. I'm wondering what we can do to help her along. We gave her a stuffie that squeeks and it scared her so we put it up, we gave her a ball and rolled it accross the floor again she was scared. When you go to pet her on the head she backs away, and when she is let out of her crate she is just shaking? Any advice to help this poor girl along will help us a lot. Thank you in advance.

here's my amatuer advice..
don't hide the things she is scared off, let/make her get use to them... after awhile that squeek is nothing new to her... if you hide it then she'll think "oh bad thing is away now, mommie put it up"
as for the petting thing.. that will come with time, pet her when you want, give her hugs and kisses, let her know this is a good thing!

I like to foster the shy dogs. If a grey is scared enough to back away or run away from you when you walk in a room, ignore her. Go about your business like she's not there. When you sit on the couch, she'll eventually come to you. LET HER COME TO YOU. Be very patient, and this will work. It always does. Eventually she'll get use to the things that scare her.
We just found a home for a shy little girl. Bella did love her toys though, but if you walked into the room, she'd run to her crate. It took about a month and a half, but she was doing meet and greets, and didn't back away from people. She learned she didn't have to run.
The key in the begining is not to go to her, let her come to you on her own terms. Patience is the only thing. you have to have it, and you will be rewarded 10 fold.
Good luck, and if you have any questions as time goes by, please ask.

i agree with Jimmy - Our Softee was very shy especially around men if one was in the house moe than 5 minutes she would run upstairs we just let her go. Finally men that came all the time she started to go to them for a few minutes and when we started Pet therapy she started to tolerate men more. She is now 14 1/2 and jimmy can tell you she did not back away from him when he first met her.

one thing i did with my spook foster, was to lay down on the floor, fosters are not allowed on the furniture so i couldn't love on him when he wanted to if i was on the couch and he wanted on the couch..
getting down on the floor shows her that you and her a are a pack.. a team! (just remain the alpha at all times)

If she likes her crate , I would leave the door open to allow her a place she feels safe . might cut down on her anxiety(sp). One on One time is great ,taking a walk with just her will help with your bond. Good luck keep us posted..

I wish I could leave her crate door open but Mr Time goes and pulls everything out of it he does this to all but his own.
Nature has been chewing on her chewy so that's a good thing, When I'm on the computer she will come to me to be petted and at least one a day I'm on the floor with her.

Tonight Nature played with a stuffy I got from the $ store and a rope bone. That makes me feel so good.
