I am in shock. He has been fine all day...and he let out this little yelp about 4:30. I figured it was his leg. About 5, I went in the kitchen to feed, he came in & started eating out of the tupperware container like usual & suddenly he spit it all out, his legs went wobbly & he peed.
I checked to see if he was choking & he staggered into the bedroom & laid down. I brought his food to him & he wouldn't lift his head. He would breathe & then push, breathe & push.
I called my vet at home, he wasn't there. I felt of his face & he was a little cool, but not frighteningly.
About 6:00 he staggered to the back door, he wasn't even limping & he walked out side & laid down in the cool grass. I made all the dogs come back inside & I went to get my phone & when I went back outside, he had died.

Oh how sad and so suddenly. I know it must seem like you have been hit in the face with a two by four. I felt that way when we lost Milly so suddenly. Nothing makes sense. I wish that there was something that I could say or do to make it not so or to make you hurt less. I'm so sorry for your loss of your precious boy.

I love that painting, that kinda looks like BuyCut up there. He was always skinny, real wirey. At the vet on Friday, he actually walked over & stood on the scales & weighed himself, 61 lbs...I don't remember his racing weight...but when I got him he was so thin. Of course he'd been out on his own for a few weeks...and he had the thinnest hair...so he loved snuggling on the bed...he'd scrunch up the comforter at night...and warm sheets straight from the dryer....he'd follow me from the laundry room to the bed & jump on the bed while I was putting them back on. He was a hoot....

Iam so sorry to hear of your loss Hilda, the picture of Buy cut shows his gentleness in his eyes. He must of been a very special boy.

Oh no. I am so sorry, what a shock. Sending prayers your way. I am so sorry.

Losing our sweet hounds is hard enough, but to have such a shock must have been a nightmare. I'm so sorry that you had this happen. Your hound was greatly loved and your memories will sustain you as time goes by.
