Full Version: Anyone still interested?
xracers
We are still not quite sure how we are going to do this one yet but I think I'm going to need someone to finish off a run with me that I have coming up on 4/19. It's looking like after my usual VA stops, I might be heading to Binghamton, NY- it's kind of close to Syracuse.

Just need someone to ride along and keep me awake- this is a long one for me.

Looks like I'll be taking 95 to Fredricksburg,VA and after I drop dogs there I have a stop in Leesburg, VA- after that I'll cut over to 81 and take that to Binghamton.

Anyone want to go for a ride?

Anyone know what the terrain is like on I-81 through PA? Is it mountainous or anything like that? Remember, I'm from FL and a molehill looks like a mountain to me. laugh.gif

We are changing the date on this to 4/26

Pat, I would love to help, but that's Greyhounds IN Gettysburg weekend. My DW has already put in a time off form for her work, so I can't back out of GIG now.

But I'm in WV, just west of Leesburg on the way to 81.

I would love to ride up with you, just not that day. If they change the date, let me know. And you can always pm or email me for any other runs coming through.

Is that 81 real mountainous Jimmy? I completely forgot GIG was that weekend. We just might be changing the date, again.

I got 8 that need to get to NY, I'm trying to combine them in with the regular VA run because the gas would be outrageous for the group to just send those 8 on a run by themselves. The Canadian group that's getting them had to drive as far as I did from FL the last time they got dogs and met me in VA. The Canucks love the FL dogs but we have a heck of a time getting them there.

I've gone all the way up to Hershey PA on 81 and it wasn't bad as far as I can remember. It was flat.

I don't think it's going to get hilly or mountainous till around mid state. I will check today as see what I can find out about PA today and get back to you.

I would love to but we'll be in GIG as well that date. Darn.

Hi Pat, Greys4Us told me today during our little leg of a GUR that she's done that route from 81 to New York, and it's flat the whole way. You will get higher in elevation, but it remains flat.
Greys4Us
Pat, I used to make that trip many many times for many years going over to Western NY via Binghamton for my business. It's not a bad trip. The worst part you will deal with is the part between Hagerstown, MD and Harrisburg to the north. LOTS of truck traffic and it's busy no matter when you go.

But the rest is fine. Nice scenery.

xracers
That is good to hear because if it was real up and down mountainy, I wouldn't want to take too many more dogs then the original 8. Now I can tell Judy it's ok to add somemore if the PA or NY groups need some.

With the price of gas nowadays, I want the groups to get the most dogs per gallon as they safely can. The first trip I did was a mix of GPAGO and Gold Coast dogs, the price of gas was 1.52 a gallon. It's just ridiculous now.

If you have any the week of June 9-June 13, I am free.
dad2paisley
Do you do hauls during the week?
xracers
Sometimes I do hauls during the week but usually they're on the weekends. I usually leave Orlando about 7:00pm on Friday to get up north on Saturday morning. The ones during the week are usually runs that I do for Chris (GPA Daytona) to OSU or one of the prisons.

oh ok
