Full Version: Prisoners re-enter society
tormanjones
Hi everyone, I think that every person has his right to live in a society no matter even if he was a prisoner in his early life. Most of the prisoners are racial or ethnic minorities and have difficulty in re-entering the society as they are faced with poverty and this leads to crime for which they are re-arrested are convicted and re-incarcerated and this adds a burden on the government in respect of tax-payers. What are your views on this?

I think that repeat offenders and criminals with long lists of murders, robberies etc should be put to death. I am pro-death penalty and also a lot of the recent murders in various states are illegal aliens.
I think that ICE needs to get these illegals out of this country. If we had the death penalty in all 50 states and we used it, there would be no crime. Politicians are weak on crime and what to do with all our prisoners. Also, in prison you have gangs in there running these places.
Politicians also say it costs to much to put a criminal to death. I say that is not right.
We have to stop this revolving cycle of prisoners getting out or getting released and do another crime.

... in re-entering the society as they are faced with poverty and this leads to crime ..

i know plenty of people who are poor (especially growing up) and don't turn to the life of crime so that is no excuse...
the criminals that use that as an excuse are just that.. criminals and need to be locked up..

edited to add: with hard work and dedication a criminal can lead a very nice law biding life...

As someone who lives in country where we have a woman who helped her husband kidnap, drug, rape and kill girls (12-17 years of age)one of which was her own sister and she only gets 12 years because she testified against him. Then while in prison they were going to allow her to get a degree in child psychology(public outcry stopped it). She is now out of prison and remarried with a baby. I feel that prisoners have too many rights and privileges. Did they show their victims any compassion?
I am a firm believer that jail is a punishment for the wrong one has done to society.
I can feel for those who have crappy childhoods, or are having issues after being released but ... THEY COMMITTED A CRIME! "If you can't do the time, don't do the crime". I had a less then "wonderful" childhood but I knew with hard work and perseverance along with the right choices my future was bright no matter where I came from.
I wonder what makes those who make the right choices different from those who do not? But for the grace of God go I.

I am a believer in punishment and I wish they same thing could be done to them that they have done. In other words an eye for an eye

If we had the death penalty in all 50 states as previously stated I think it might stop some of these criminals in their tracks. Look at countries where they do punish to fit the crime do they have the same problems as those countries who do not enforce the death penalty

This is a very good issue to discuss about as it is concerned with the human race and deals with the real problems faced in the society. The Second Chance Act is taken in this way and hope that it brings a new dawn for the people. I believe you can also express your views on this on save the left which is good place to know your comments on such issues.

Some prisoners can be good citizens after prison but 90% aren't and when they get out, commit more crimes.
