Since the weather is getting hotter. What do you do for your greyhounds?
Do you still walk them?Let them run in your fenced backyard or at the dog park?

Al and i go for a walk first thing in the morning at 5:30, then he goes to work with me at 7 (i work at a kennel) and he gets to hang out in the yard there until about 8:30 or 9 and play with his friends, i'll bring him in when i feel its getting warm for the day... he'll go out one more time just for a potty break and then we come home at 5:30, then around 8:30 (except for Tuesday and Thursday when i have school until 9) we go for our last walk as its cooling down.
Detailed enough?!!

Oreo hangs out in the yard during the day, except for when I have to go somewhere, then he comes in. He also does ask to come in during the day as well. He really doesn't run around in this weather and walks just far enough to get under the porch in the shade and on the damp dirt to stay cool.

I walk them early in the morning and later at night (about 45 mins - 1 hr). Then a few short potty breaks in the yard throughout the day. The rest of the time they are inside laying in front of their fans (yup both dogs have their own) LOL.

I walk early or late in the evening.
They hang out in the house with fans, naturally!!!
I also have a kiddie pool that is big enough to lay down in if they feel the need.

The other day it was 98 degrees and humid. Lincoln was running in the backyard, showing off to Bear, I tried to tell him to stop but he didn't. He doesn't seem to mind the heat but I don't like any of our guys running full steam when it's that hot.
After he ran, he layed in our sandbox. The cool sand helped him cool off some.
Yes, we are going to get our kiddie pool out soon.

The big dogs go out first thing, 6 am. The iggies go out right behind them. Breakfast at 7 and out again for 20 or so minutes. They pretty much go in and out all day long. We go for a 45 minute walk every evening. Back out around 8 and again at 11 and then it is off to bed. We have a tiny pool for now that they put their front feet in and then dig the water out every change they get, especially Harley. I am going to get them a bigger pool tomorrow, by myself, no kids, no dogs, just me!

We still get the walks in but, I cut them down to 10-15 minutes and then its inside for water and cool air to blow on Misty.

They are use to the heat here in Kansas. Don't like storms too much.

greydaddy,
I've never been to Kansas and that is were Misty is from and lived on a farm after racing to have her kids. She has a hard time with the humidity here in Maryland, is it humid in Kansas? I know that other dogs that we met, greyhound and other breeds don't seem to have a problem. Just wondering. Thanks.

Would someone PLEASE explain to my dogs it is WAY TOO HOT to go for a walk? Harley is making me crazy jumping up and putting his front paws on the back of the couch and barking in my ears and nipping the back of my head.

He is making me crazyyyyyyyyyyy!
