OK D2P, how 'bout we continue Greyhound racing because it's what the dogs were born and bred to do. Bolting from the box, noses piercing the wind, hundredths of a second between 1st and last place. They are pure atheletes. It's poetry in motion.

Lets add another to the list.
How about all the charitable money that the tracks give out each year!

I'm going to keep going here, I guess until someone stops me.
How about all the part time after school and weekend jobs that the tracks give to the kids.

Must not forget the vendors who provide all the supplies for the kennels. I know here, they encourage using locals as much as possible, so there are more jobs connected than just those in the kennel itself and track employees.

Jobs is a big deal. Especially now a days.
Think about all the people that it takes to put just one greyhound on the track.
You've got the farmer and his family and hired help that breeds and whelps the pups. The farmer may train the dogs himself or may have another party do it. This only gets them to the track. Not all farms have everything. They have to do the drag lure, then the whirly gig, then the rope track, and then finally the schooling track. This may involve many people and locations. (And you thought they just sit in their crates all day).
The trainer at the race track and his help will school them more and adjust their weight to get them ready to race.
Think about all the vets, the pharmaceutical companies, the feed companies, the farmers that grow the vegetables and the fruit. The fishermen and the companies that package the fish (Yes they eat more than dog food.)The ranchers that raise the beef and poultry and all their help.
This is just the people that it takes to get one greyhound headed for the starting box. My list still does not include everyone. Lots of people are involed and it's lots of JOBS.
