Full Version: Sky Checking In
mom2greys
Just got back from the vet with Sky she cut her leg open and they had to put staples in. They gave her a sedative and she is sleeping in her crate right now.

I don't know how she did it it was late last night so I cleaned it and wrapped it until we got the the vets. There was a 2 hours wait. Sky is on an antibiotic and goes back in 2 weeks to get the staples out.
Beryl
Oh no hope everything goes well. Softee had staples (9) and we just got them out. Vet has told us with these boo boos they have such think skin anything could of happened to cause it.

Sky is still very groggy, I had to beg her to come out of her crate and go potty. I gave her her pill and a hot dog and she wanted right back in her crate. I don't know how many staples he put in, but he said he had to trim around the wound before he could put the staples in. I could here her cry when they were doing this. I feel so bad for my baby girl.
Beryl
Softee's slit was about 1 inch and had 9 also she did it by falling down on her butt
mom2greys
Sky's is an 1 1/2 to 2 inches long. Bob said it looks more like a slice than a cut
Beryl
Softee's was a slit. We saw blood on the carpet but when we checked her could not find anything. I do believe when she was up it closed so you could not see it. When we were at the vet and I believe the way she was standing that is how we spotted it..
mom2greys
I wish Sky would be a bit more alert than she is. Of course now it's raining and I'll have to put a baggie over her foot. I can't find my vet wrap either. emo-th_headbangwall.gif
Beryl
newspaper sleeves work greyt also and in the house a baby or small sock keeps the bandage clean
mom2greys
We don't get the paper, and around here they don't use those.
Pipi5
I wonder if the paper people know what we do with the plastic bags? he he he
Poor baby!
When I brought up this thread, it started at the bottom, I saw cut, staples & then the last post "we don't get the paper".
I'm thinking "paper cut"?
Someone at my house cut a foot the other night, but I never could find who it was. With 24 paws running around here, I don't know who was getting blood on the floor, but I just moped it up & watched for someone to clean their paws, but no one did...so maybe it was a ghost doggie.
Beryl
Both papers here use those sleeves and we carry a bunch in the car and use them for doggy doo also. Next time I send you something or you win something on auction let me know I will send you some..If you check some of the old posts on Softee you will see her with a sleeve on her foot and one even shows her with her baby sock on.
mom2greys
I put a sock on Sky for tonight so she will leave her dressing alone. I think the paper sleeve thing is a good idea.
Beryl
yes the sock will keep it clean - we picked some up at the Good Will Store so I have an ample suppy so that they can be washed. Check around you might find those plastic newspaper sleeves somewhere up there.
