Full Version: Jack Flash's eyes
Pipi5
While ago I had just sat down on the bed for dinner...Gogh got on the bed too, which all this is normal. I noticed Jack turning in circles like he was fixing to lay down, but when he looked at me, his head was cocked sort of sideways. I got up & thought maybe he was having a muscle spasm in his neck...when I looked him in the face, his eye brows were twitching & his eyes were jerking. It almost looked like someone was pulling the skin back on his face.
I immediately called my vet, but of course it was 6:30. He didn't answer. When I looked in my bedroom, Jack was standing in the middle of my bed (looking for my dinner) and he was fine. No more jerking or twitching.
I'm going to document it in my daytimer & call the vet tomorrow to see if he thinks I should bring Jack in...but he's fine now. He's walking in a straight line, he jumped on the bed, then jumped down & followed me in here. He's stretched out on the futon pad with Gabby & Gogh right now.
Do ya'll think its vestibular disease, although he didn't throw up & he wasn't staggering.

Its possible Hilda but on the safe side check with your vet.

Yeah...I'm gonna call tomorrow & leave a message. If he does it again tonight, then I'm taking him in the morning & dropping him off. But he's doing good now. He's loving all this attention...
He just walked up, he's wet from being outside. Its turned off cold here again!
Thanks for the advise.

Called the vet about 10:30...they put me right to him, he was in between surgeries. He came right on the phone. I told him everything Jack did & he said it sounded like a seizure.
It might be isolated, but he wanted to pull blood on him & see him...I'm thinking brain xrays...so I'm dropping him off Monday morning.
I've been going to my vet since 1980 & so when I take my dogs in, he crates them in the lab where he can see them. Ever since Pipi climbed over the 7 foot dog run, he doesn't keep them in the back. he he he
I told him that, of course, this happened at 6:30 & he asked if I left him a message...I told him I didn't call him at home...he said he had surgeries last night & it was after midnight when he got home, had he answered the phone when I called, he said he would've told me to bring him on in....
I told him Jack was fine afterwards & he's fine right now...ate summer real good tonight & played chase with Gogh...
I will certainly keep everyone up to date!!! emo-heartbeat.gif

Jack is still doing good today. He's sleeping with Gabby on the futon. Pipi is stretched out here on the doggie beds beside my desk. We're watching Raiders of the Lost Ark...Indiana Jones.
I should've named Jack after Indiana Jones...they remind me of each other.
I will keep ya'll posted on the outcome. Prayers needed that its isolated.

Came home for lunch...its a mad house at work today...everyone's grumpy!
I dropped Jack off this morning, he was so funny. He got out of the car & was just so excited, wagging all over. We stopped to pee, and he was so excited he just started walking while he was peeing!
Got inside & he realized where he was...so he started shaking. This man was there with his 2 cats, so he came over to pet him. That helped...he was happy to see someone.
So I left him there in good hands.
I called just now, they said his physical exam went well, couldn't find anything wrong...that's a relief!!! He drew blood on Jack & will send it off tonight, results will be in tomorrow...so I can pick him up this evening. Yaaaaaaaaayyyy emo-happy116.gif

Picked up Jack last night...he's so cute. He came trotting in the room & went right to Dr. Blackburn...not me!!! Then he realized I was in there too & he looked at Gerald like, Sorry dood...and came running over to me.
He had his teefies cleaned & he lost 4 teeth...Dr. B said his teeth were in bad shape...
He gave me some meds for him, an antibiotic & then something for pain, then he wants to see him in a week so he can look at his mouth.
He said his thyroid was a little low...but not significant. He definitly needed to lose about 5 lbs & otherwise he's healthy as can be. He said for a grouchy dog inside a crate, he's such a happy dog! I laughed...that's why no one wanted to adopt Jack because inside a crate, he was vicious, frightening!!! But open that crate & he melted into a warm mushy puppy.
Anyway, he slept all the way home, then ran around the yard a couple of times. In the meantime, I smushed up his food & put his meds on it. He ate all his dinner, slowly.
Slept all night long. He fussed one time this morning because Snowy laid down next to him...then I heard him sigh real big...He was glad to be home!
