I don't know how much longer I can take the stress. Mom was released from the rehab. center on Friday and she was going to finish her therapy at my house, which I was happy to have her here, she was happy to be with the cats, including her cat, Shadow and of course Misty. When I was getting ready to take her home on Friday, I was told that she has a infection, Clostridium Difficile, known as c.diff, which the "bad" bacteria in your intestines, usually it happens when a antibotic wipes out all the good flora, that is my understanding, so they started her on Flagyl which would clear up the infection. She settled in on Friday, she was very happy and she had a good day, and on Saturday she was ok going to the bathroom every few hours with diarrhea, but it wasn't all that bad. Well, yesterday was the worst, she was in the bathroom every hour with heavy diarrhea, I bought a package of depends, 38 pads and as of last night, she only has seven left. She was eating, soup, crackers, and some yogurt. She was so tired and kept telling me how sorry she was to give me all this extra work, she was just feeling terrible. I knew something had to wrong, and she kept telling me she wanted to go to the hospital, she is not one to request to go to the hospital, so I knew something was really wrong, so I called 911. The E.R. doctor told me with this infection, she is going to have diarrhea, its the only way the infection leaves the body, well, no one for the rehab center told me that, the doctor told me that the medication will dry her up. Since she has such bad diarrhea she is dehydrated and her k+ level was very low, which makes sense, so the doctor told me I did the right thing getting her in. So, she was admitted to the hospital and settled in her room this morning at 4:30, its been a long day and night. I just hope she gets better soon and can come back home with me and start to feel like her old self. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, thing have to turn around. Thanks.

I was pleased to see her eating again, she lost so much weight and most of it is do to this c. diff. She wants to get better and she is starting to look better. I am so angry with the rehab center because she had this problem for at least a week or more before something was done, lab tests on her stool, when they did get a stool sample they, meaning the nursing staff, left it in the cup, in the bathroom for over 24 hours, which is gross, and they had to repeat it. I just wanted to punch someone out, I just could not believe it. I read that this is a deadly disease esp. with children and the elderly. No wonder she didn't want to eat because she had stomach pains along with the diarrhea and the nursing staff was telling us that she just wanted to give up and die, and they did not want to be to aggressive and they just wanted to let her rest and just give her "comfort care" and let her go. This was not the case, she contacted this c. diff. from there center, no wonder she lost so much weight, she couldn't eat fried chicken, fried fish, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese. She needed a light or clear liquid diet, something easy to digest. I'm not a doctor or a nurse, but, I know that if someone is having massive diarrhea, that may be there is a medical problem and she needs fluids. If I had picked up a patient from home or a nursing home with these symptoms, the first thing I would do is start a I.V. line. I will be calling the director of the nursing home/rehab. center and he/she will get an ear full from me. I am so mad, I'm glad I'll be working out today.
