Full Version: Got a baby robin
dad2paisley
I had Milky, Lincoln and Bear out in the backyard. It's a nice day and this is my long night at work, so I let them have some time outside before I leave.
We'll all of a sudden I hear a scream, screach, and look up and see that Bear has a baby bird in his mouth, then the bird gets away and then Lincoln snags it and tries to run off with it. Then he drops it and Milky, grabs it. I am yelling Drop It! Drop It! Milky drops it and I manage to get them back in the house. I think the parent was trying to teach the bird to fly, cause there is no nest around. The baby just happened to fly in Bear's area. I can't believe our Bear Bear, who is a short bus, no brains caught this bird first.
Milky has bird feathers on her mouth. Ewww..... I notice it's a baby robin, a good size baby too. The parents are swooping in trying to help but then it turns into like the movie, The Birds. All breeds of birds swooping, watching the baby. The parent bird stays for awhile and then is gone.
I am so sad for the baby bird. I know it's the greys instinct, but it's still sad.

Trish has to take care of the bird, cause I will puke.

I am whimpy. I admit it. Went to check on the bird. It was gone, no blood, pieces of it at all. Maybe it flew away or a crow got it??

Beryl
Hopefully it got away at least you did not have to deal with it

Hope the bird made it. Unfortunately, this kind of stuff happens in the spring when the babies are born. I've found one egg on the ground so far, and in a different area of the yard, a dead baby bird that fell out of the hole in the tree where it lived.
