Full Version: Paypal email scam
dad2paisley
I got 2 emails from paypal to update your info. I think it's a spam. Here is the email. I don't have a credit card ending in 1001.

PayPal
Dear Thomas Neary,

Your credit card ending in 1001 will expire soon. To avoid any disruption to your PayPal service, please update your credit card expiration date by following these steps:

1. Log in to your PayPal account.
2. Go to the Profile subtab and click Credit Cards in the Financial Information column.
3. Choose the credit card that needs updating and click Edit.
4. Enter the updated card information.

Or simply get the PayPal Plus Credit Card. You could be approved almost instantly, and there’s no annual fee. Apply today.

Sincerely,
PayPal

I've gotten these before. Same with ebay. The're scam emails. What I always did to check to make sure is: Get out of my email and go directly to Paypal and log in. If there is a problem or it's time to really update a credit card, it'll tell you.

Everytime I've done this, there is no message telling me to update. If it really is time to update, you'll have a message waiting.

Jimmy I get them and do the same thing go to e-bay and check my mail for alerts and I keep getting alerts to update my paypal expiration date we called and they told us to ignore them in the future. I have gotten those same type of e-mails from banks Ido not have an account with plus the ones I do. never respond to them but call the bank directly and some of these banks do have a spam outlet you can forward the e-mail to.

There is another one going around for debit cards especially for people who get welfare or government issue checks but don't have a bank where they can cash their for example Social Security Checks. Will have to get the name of the debit card.
