Most of us have had a beloved family dog at some point in our lives.
Some of us have had to suffer the loss of this cherished pet due to an
illness. In a majority of cases, this illness was canine cancer.

On Saturday, August 16^th , 2008, at Jolly Orchards in Coloma, Michigan,
there will be an event that is rare for this area. Hundreds of retired
and rescued racing Greyhounds from throughout the United States, and
their owners, will come together to hold a fund raiser for canine
cancer. This event, *3Gs*, /Greyt Hounds, Great Lakes and Great Wines/,
will be accepting monetary donations as well as items donated for our
auction and raffle. All the proceeds will be donated to the non-profit
Greyhound Health and Wellness Program at Ohio State University.

What is so exciting is that Dr. Guillermo Couto, DVM, and director of
this program, will be our guest speaker! Dr. Couto is world renowned for
his research. This research also extends beyond the Greyhound breed and
helps advance the fight against cancer for all breeds of animals. This
research has also proven to benefit the cancer research for humans.

We can’t make this event successful without the participation of our
community. If you would like to donate money or items for our auction
and raffle, please fill out the attached form. All donations are tax
deductible, and all individuals donating will be sent a letter
acknowledging their donation.

Here is a email I got today and thought you would all like to read it.

What a greyt day we had!!The setting was wonderful, the weather was
perfect,the wine and chocolate truffles were amazing!!Lots of greyt
hounds and greyt people all getting together to raise money for a worthy
cause-what more could you ask for? I could not have and did not do this
alone!In July of 2007,Peggy,Judi and I were driving down to a greyhound
event in KY and the idea of 3 G's was born.Our dream of doing something
to help Dr. Couto was realized on Saturday at Jollay Orchards.There were
a few bumps along the way but by in large I think we did a greyt job of
organizing things.We had so many wonderful people donate things for the
raffle and silent auction(and now comes the task of sending out thank
you cards)and some greyt people who helped us "work" the event that
day.Joel and Renae and your friends for working the registration booth
and also Joel and Renae's grandmother for helping with the wine
tasting(I did alot of wine tasting when I got home that
night!!LOL!).Stanley and Sue Adams for helping to set up and selling
raffle tickets and helping with the silent auction.Margo and Jim Howley
for letting us borrow their tent and putting it up and taking it down
for us and Margo also helped sell raffle tickets.Mary H for helping pack
up raffle items at Peggy's office and transporting them to the event and
helping with the raffle on Saturday.Thanks to Allies for coming with
some foster dogs and showing them them off-hope it helped to find them
some homes.And a big thank you to everyone who attended and bought
raffle tickets and bid on silent auction items-you helped us raise over
$5000 for the Greyhound Health and Wellness Program at OSU! I hope you
had as good a time as I had.
I thank Peggy and Judi from the bottom of my heart for taking this
amazing ride with me and I thank my husband Bob for putting up with me
