Full Version: I gotta stay away from the meet and greets
PhL0aTeR
Long story short, we are back in colorado springs for the summer and partaking in some of the Colorado Greyhound Adoption fun with the Meet and Greet today and we will be attending the Parker festival tomorrow and volunteering at the CGA booth.

Anywho, we met a 10 year old blonde girl named Peaches today that one of our friends were fostering, and the minute i saw her she was beautiful, and seeing as we have Slim, our other old man, we love the seniors.

So keeping with the "long story short" ill let the pics speak for themselves....

(Yes we took her home.... lol)

Funny thing, is seeing all 3 of them in the back of the durango, when it was just bullet and slim they had their choice on where to lay down, now it looks like a wal mart parking lot, everyone is diagonally laying.... lol

Congratulations on the new girl! She's a beauty. At 10, was she a broodie, or did she race for a while? Love to know some history on her. Share, share! smile.gif

Looks like she's wearing one of the CM Illusion collars. Is that what it is? What do you think of it?

Anyway, again, congrats on the new senior girlie!

You will have to let me know what a broodie is so i can answer that..... lol..... i havent looked up her ear tats yet, so im not sure of her racing history.

I know that she was a relinquishment, but not sure exactly when she was first adopted.

The collar she is wearing is the standard premier martingale/ click combo in blue that all CGA fosters wear. I will assume that it was from her first fostering because it looks a bit old and has bunch of hair on the underside.

She has some arthritis (of course) and has been on tramadol while in foster care, but was off for a week to see how she did, and we notice she yelps when she gets up after laying for a while, so were gonna try some natural stuff with her like we do with our boys and see if we can avoid going the pain killer route.

Ah, ok. Broodie is brood mama - a girl dog bred sometimes after a racing career, or sometimes without racing, just because her lines are so good.

In the pictures her collars look like they're attached, that's why I thought it might be one of the Illusion collars. I've been wanting to hear from someone who's used one to see how they work. It seems that EVERY SINGLE foster that comes through my doors has piss poor leash manners. I'm always on the lookout for a humane, effective tool to help with training since I rarely have an extended period of time to work with some of these dogs.

hmmmm well, its my understanding that the reason they wear 2 collars in the first place is if they are on lead and come out of the MG, that they still have their tag collar on. If the 2 were connected, it would defeat the purpose of having the 2 collars and would leave your foster naked in the event of coming out of the MG.

as far as being broodie, i dont think that was the case, but i will definitely have more info this coming week

I buy glucosimine for arthritis from the Greyhound Gang in Utah. It works great on our senior broodie. She'll be 9 in July. When we first got her, we could tell she was having a little bit of a hard time getting up from her bed. But now, you'd never know she has arthritis, she runs around like a 2 year old.

We give our soon to be 15 year old who retired from racing at the age of 5 GlycoFlex III which we purchase from KV Vet Supply. Can check out KV Vet Supply on line also free shipping for orders $50 or more. Our vet also uses it on her pets. Softee (SoftShoeSureShot) sometimes acts like a puppy.

BTW she is beautiful enjoy many years with her

How do the boys get along with her?
