Chance got out of his yard in St Cloud about 8:00pm on 6/19. He got lost in the area of Old Canoe Creek Rd and Capitol Dr.
We believe that he cut his foot while he was escaping the yard. We followed a blood trail to the fence that is next to the turnpike, it looks like he turned around and headed back towards Old Canoe Creek Rd.
Chance is Wht/Fawn and EXTREMELY SPOOKY. He has a collar with his tags and a Gold Coast Greyhound Adoptions tag on it.
Contact Diana Clauss 321-443-0094 or Pat South 321-298-1232 pdick@bellsouth.net
Diana and others will be out flyering starting at 6:00am on 6/20.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT HE IS EXTREMELY SPOOKY and there are two very busy roads close by.

Everyone has been looking and flyering all day. The night shift just took over- the day shift thinks that they have a pretty good idea where he is but it's very thick woods. No actual sightings but following paw prints....

I just got back- we didn't catch him but we did see him a bunch of times. He is following the same trail in and out of a woodsy area, so we set the live trap on his trail.
Let me tell you, there is mosquitos galore there. Tara and me camped out because we wanted to make sure that the wild boars weren't going to be setting the trap off to much, there's a ton of those boars around there. The boars didn't bother the trap.
Chance is looking like he is getting more comfortable with the area. He wasn't running around wicked spooky like he was the other night. I think that given a little time that he will get into the trap. He stopped and smelled the food last night, so he knows it's there. He's not leaving blood trails anymore but he was walking with a little limp.
It might take a few days but we will get him.

He's staying right around the trap, he came out and looked at his mommy when she was checking the trap but then he went back in the woods. Cmon goofball go in the trap!
It's so frustrating when he's right there and won't come to you! I'm just glad that he's staying where he is and not going up on the turnpike. The Florida turnpike is 30 feet from where he is. He's a lucky dog- we had calls the first 2 nights that he crossed the turnpike.

that he is caught soon. one of the greys up here that was on the loose for awhile they lured into the trap with garlic laced chicken
She was a sneaky one who pulled the bedding out with the water and food on it and the trap did not go off. The chicken the attached to the back of the trap.

I think that's what they are going to try next. He just came from racing just a few months ago so we are thinking about trying to put the pet trailer over in the area to see if he might jump in it. A lot of the kennels train the dogs to jump into the trailers.

Update from Chance's mom and dad:
Ok, here's the latest (day 6)
Lastnight we had a terrible thunderstorm with pretty good sized hail. After that was done for awhile, Chance came out around 8:30 in the clearing past the silt fence and water. He saw us down on the ground, stood there for a minute staring at us and then ran back toward the scrap metal area. We saw him again around 10:30, he was over by the trap. He walked around for awhile, then took off again toward the scarp metal area. He had eaten all the treats we put out around the trap.
This morning, we got out there at 5:30 and didn't see him for a long time. The sun was almost up and just when I thought we weren't going to spot him, here he comes trotting out around 7:15. Again, ate the treats around the trap but not going in. He saw us laying on the ground and took off toward the scrap metal pile. Mike had to go home to get ready for work, so I decided I was going to move in. Chance was standing next to the scrap metal pile, watching the morning activities at Animal Control. I heard his tags jingle, so I laid down with treats. He trotted right up and came within 2 feet of me, not expecting me to be there and darted away just a tad but still stared at me. I tossed some treats his way and told him good boy and he took off around the pond on the other side by the black chain link fence. He stood across the pond trying to see me but then trotted off and went in the woods by the trap.

I was going to bring the trailer over there to see if maybe he would jump in but since they're getting that close to him, we all think it's best that I don't bring it over.
I'll tell you what, this is soooo frustrating. Good thing he's not my dog because at this point after he's caught, and gets his hugs, I would have a hard time not wringing his little neck too.

Wonder why he is still running from his Mom? I guess he has not been with her long. I looked on Gold Coast's yahoo group page and someone (I think Pat) suggested canned tuna or salmon since it is smelly! Also, they caught a raccoon, but no dog. He is too smart for his own good. His dad even tried walking around bare foot so Chance could smell him and follow the path into the home gate. I wonder if they bring another grey out and feed the other dog if that would entice him? I'm sure they have tried.... GOOD LUCK!

He is such a spook- I don't know how he used to race. On a scale of 1 to 10 he's a 9 for wicked spookiness. Scared of his own shadow. He runs from everything. When me and Tara were there the other day, as he was trotting away from us he either saw a cat or a piece of garbage blowing on the ground- he ran away from it like he was racing!

Thanks for posting for me Jimmy.
Here's Chances dad posting how they found him:
This is absolutely incredible, I was just getting ready to roll out of bed and go down to the access road when Dodge started barking uncontrollably in his crate. Diana got up to check the front window to see what had Dodge so wound up then she came back to our room and peeked out into the back yard. Her exact words were "my eyes keep playing tricks on me, it looks like there's a dog at the back door" I got up and peeked through the blinds and sure enough there was Chance waiting at the back door. Diana went around and shut the gates and then let him in. He's very energetic this morning and running around playing with everyone. This is an absolute miracle and I can't believe that after all this time he just walked home.
Now this is they got him- we knew the other day when we bolted out of the area around the trap that he was trying to find his way home. He was wandering the neighborhood trying to find his house, now how were we going to show him where it was? It was too far to try to lay down a trail of food(tons of other creatures in the area too) so they did the next best thing, they peed him home. Chance's dad and their other dogs went out and peed from the trap to the house(dad did this too- he would have had a heck of a time explaining that one to the cops if he got caught) and it showed him how to get home. Pmail at it finest!
Chance is doing fine, he was a little bit skinny after his runaround, had a bunch of ticks in his ears and a bunch of cuts and scrapes from the barb wire but even the vet said he looked real good for being out that long. He's a lucky boy!
Diana, Mike and Tara did a great job getting this boy home!
