I would like to introduce my greyhound Shadow, who recently was adopted June 6th. He raced at Orange Park under WP's BLUE. You can actually watch him race because they video taped all his races. I thought this was neat because I never seen any of my prior greyhounds race. Anywho, he is getting adjusted to home life quite easily. He is starting to steal my things now and will only coachroach on his dog bed. He is my first greyhound that has no interest getting on my bed or couch, which is fine by me, but it seems weird. He is a blue fawn, so since he is a weird color, he must be a weird dog. He definetly has the funniest earsies I ever seen. He has envelope ears and are always flipped funny on his head.
Now I also have a mutt named Jackson (Shepard/Cattle Dog) and can I say he is Satan. He is crazy, high strung, and totally obsessed with playing fetch and tug of war. He has pretty much ruined my new house, but that's ok. He loves to chew things and bark. Although, he is this high strung, Shadow digs him, but sometimes growls at him, which I would to.
Shadow is awesome with my 2 1/2 year old and he just loves her. He checks on her frequently and follows her room to room. He also protects her against Jackson. Jackson is a cattle dog and has a high instinct to nip. He does not bite, but loves to nip. It is quite annoying and we are still trying to break him of his habit. Jackson was adopted at Petsmart, and the agency told us that he was with his family for a few years and they were getting divorced and they just brought him in the day we were visiting. He was so calm and nice in his crate, that my husband could not resist and he came home with us. The adoption agency told us he was 3 years old, and when I took him to the vet, she told us he was 7 months old, and confirmed this because he was microchipped when he was born. So the adoption agency lied and we now have an 11 month puppy.
All I can say is greyhounds are the best dogs in the world. I wish my life was as easy as my greyhound.
