Full Version: Does anyone feed Green Tripe?
mountain4greys
I just finished an article in The Whole Dog Journal about green tripe. The article makes it sound wonderful to give to your hounds. They talk about a few people who have used it for years, and now sell it. It drives dogs crazy. It say it's not only good for them, but their dogs live longer, have more energy, and their teeth have never been whiter.

It can be used as their only diet, or can be added in with kibble.

I thought sometime I might buy some to try.

The only warning I'm hearing is the smell can run you out of the house.

THOUGHTS?

Agree with Beryl,

Since greyhounds are indoor dogs only, unless you plan to keep your windows open at all times, I think the greyhound gas could get deadly. But on a positive note the benefits outweigh the smell I think?

Never heard of it. But, let us know how it goes if you buy it.

I buy the canned green tripe from Tripett and it's pretty great stuff. I get the Advanced Coat Formula because it's got glucosamine and condroitin in it. I give it to both my pups, who are raw fed, and my fosters, who are kibble fed.

I can get regular green tripe locally, but it comes in ten pound frozen blocks, and there is no way in heck I'm going to deal with that mess. I mean, you have to partially thaw the block, then cut it down in usable portions, repackage and refreeze, then thaw those portions when you want to feed it. GAK!!!! I'll stick to the canned. It's pretty stinky, but nowhere near what the frozen stuff is like.
