About 2 weeks ago a woman in Memphis was murdered by someone she knew. He was someone who had done work around her house, thus he knew the lay out of her home & knew that even though she had 9 greyhounds, that he was not in any danger of being attacked. She was killed sometime between midnight June 13th & Saturday morning when his "portrait" appeared on an ATM of him taking money out of her bank account with her credit card.
Five days later, the police found her body in her home. For 5 days her dogs were with out food or water. At least the guy didn't let them out of the house & hopefully the central air was on in her home.
The adoption group I volunteer for "rescued" the greys from the Memphis Animal Services & they were all put up for adoption after a check up with the vet. All have now found homes. Several were adopted together.
The guy was captured a week later, thanks to those videos of him taking her money, by his family & friends & is sitting in the Memphis jail with no bond. He'll be tried on first degree murder.
Unfortunately a lesson is to be learned here....whenever someone is going to come in to your home, check at least 3 references. This was someone she knew.

I am so glad this idiot is behind bars with no bond, and I hope they throw the book at him.
I'm also very happy the greyhounds are in new homes and will be ok, but it is sad they can't be all together with their beloved owner.

I'm glad the hounds were rehomed and I do hope this guy gets what he coming to him.

I've been following this from the other board. I was so glad that they arrested the (bleep) who did this. Am also happy to hear that her hounds have found new homes. Any news on the kittys?

This whole thing has been weighing heavy on my heart. But at least the hounds got into homes. I hope for their sake that the homes are good (and forever homes) where they will be loved and cherished for the rest of their lives.

It is wonderful that the hounds got re-homed. But so sad why they had to be. I hope the SOB gets the stiffest sentence imaginable. What kind of world do we live in when you can't trust those known to us, how do you protect yourself against that.

Ya know, I don't know what happened to her cats. She had 2 of them. We have a place in Memphis called House of Mews. They take the cats that have been dropped off at the Humane Society vs the shelter...and so I think they were taken there. Its a nice place...its like a big house for cats, they run loose & there are lots of people there to take care of them.
The pups...From what I've been told, alot of the dogs went with people who knew Becky thru her work with Helping Hounds. The ones with health issues, were vetted first, shots, testing...one did have heart worms, but the new owners said they'd cover the cost, which I think was really nice.
