Full Version: Crazy or Idiotic things you did for your greyhound
Beryl
What are the crazy or idiotic things you have done for your greyhounds to keep them happy or contented or safe.

The best one I have read so far is Chance's dad and house mates leaving pee mail so he could make it home

Another one I was told about was a greyhound would not pee in his yard until his dad peeded against a tree now the greyhound pees in the yard.

I guess one of ours was when we first adopted Phawn our Bridge girl there was one heck of a thunder storm and she tried jumping out the 2nd floor bedroom window. DH tried laying on the floor with her which did not work so we were all downstairs all night drinking pot after pot of coffee until the storm was over.

I can't really come up with anything that's to crazy for a greyhound owner. Maybe for a non grey owner. But here goes:

When we got our first grey, I realized the new floor lamp shined in her eyes when she layed on her bed. So, got another floor lamp.

When 2nd grey came, needed a loveseat so we'd have more room on the couch.

When the 3rd came, we got a new, longer couch for the room. Also bought my former bosses suv to haul them.

When the 4th came, we got a second suv, a little bit bigger for more room.

When the 5th greyhound came, we hadn't had the second suv for a year, but we did trade it in for a mini-van.

We, like all greyhound owners, are always doing something to make their lives easier.

Buying things like collars are another story. emo-hehe.gif

I think it was back in 1998 or 1999 when the brushfires were burning up everything so bad. My seizure dog was scheduled to go in for her spay and I was scared to death that she wasn't going to make it through the surgery. I was working a kennel in Orlando at the time and all I wanted to do was see her before she went in for her surgery. I tried everyway I could to get back to Melbourne and everyway was blocked off because of the fires. I finally found a road that was open and even though I could see the fires ahead of me, I kept driving. I got about 2 miles down the road and I couldn't see anything but smoke and fire- I had drove right into the fire. Trees were falling down around me, I turned around and went back. I stopped at the nearest phone and called my roomate- there was a news helicopter over me taking live shots, I waved to her and the dog, blew the dog a kiss and got out of dodge.

I tried everyway I could to get home and couldn't but at least I got to blow her a kiss.

I still don't know to this day why they didn't have that road closed, if I would have kept driving I don't think I would have been sitting here writing this right now.

The dog made it through her spay just fine.
