Full Version: Nebby
lovemygreys
This is the first I have been able to bring myself to send a message that our beloved Nebby is gone. I just could not do this before today and even then I'm sitting here crying.

Nebby was our 9 1/2 yr old foster that quickly moved into our hearts and home and became our 4th greyhound. We knew that he may or may not be with us for a long time, but one look into his beautiful face and we were lost.

In March, he and our 5 ry old, Clark were diagnosed with cancer. Clark, still be young we decided on amputation and our boy is doing great. Nebby, after a few months and more x-rays was determined that it was a bone cycst and not a lot could be done for that either. It was our goal to keep him happy and loved. Our daughter who "dog sat" for us was coming to visit over the 4th holiday. Our grandsons were already here and I told Nebby that she was coming to see him.

He had been going down hill a little and he seemed to understand that Michele was coming down. Well, he stayed with us for a few days after she arrived, but his leg broke and then just was nothing to be done.

We all took Nebby for a ride (his most favorite thing) and then to the vets. We were with him and telling him how very much we all loved him as he went to his "rainbow bridge". Today we bring his ashes home and we will spread them over the field that he adored. He loved to run and play and did that almost to his final day.

Thank you all for listening, and for all the beautiful poems that have been posted to this site previously. They do help, and knowing all of you are out there helps also.

Linda, Nebby really was one sweet boy. And he was lucky to have you and Skip to give him all the love he could want. You are the greatest for keeping him when he was looking for a home, he really needed you.

He will be missed.

So sorry for your loss.
Nebby will be waiting for you at the bridge.
Until then may God and St Francis watch over and keep Nebby.
And may God bless you and yours.
