GHG Reunion Picnic Saturday 9/13

2008 REUNION PICNIC
Saturday (yes, SATURDAY), September 13 from 1:00pm until 5:00pm
North Park Lodge

Going Home Greyhounds Reunion is right around the corner. Be there…rain or shine! Pack up the family and the dogs (no small dogs please – for their own safety) and head out to the North Park Lodge for a wonderful, fun-filled day!

This year will be GHG’s 12th annual reunion and a celebraton of our 13th year as a rescue group! Please stop by the registration table located in front of the Lodge. You can sign in, get a goodie bag, nametag, and pick up a program that lists all the day’s events. We would like to know how many people and dogs joined us, so please be sure to sign in when you arrive.

THE GILLY GIRLS DANCING GREYHOUND AND COMEDY ACT will be joining us this year. They will be doing two 25 minute performances for us so everyone will hopefully be able to enjoy the fun! To read more about the Gilly Girls team, go to http://www.geocities.com/petsburgh/8332/.

FOSTER DOGS will be at the picnic for everyone to meet, but no adoptions will actually take place that day. If you are a previous GHG adopter and are interested in adopting a particular dog, you may put your contact information on a list that day. Once you submit an on-line application, Sandy (our Application Coordinator) will contact you with specifics. There will also be a sign up list for anyone who may be interested in becoming a foster home.

COSTUME PARADE: Prizes will be awarded for the three most creative costumes.

VENDORS: Confirmed to date are (and we will continue to update this) Cassie’s Casual Wear, Cozy Coats and More, Crown Collars, Elaine’s Pet Pillows, Greyt Bedazzlies, Prince Creations, Run With It Embroidery, Sherri’s Coats, and Wags and Wiggles Barkery.

BURTON’S TOTAL PET “WHEEL OF DOGGIE FORTUNE”: Spin the wheel to get lots of fun prizes or store coupons for you and your dog!

COUNTRY CRITTERS: Nail trimming with 100% of donations that day coming back to GHG! Thank you so much Country Critters for your generosity!

REUNION PHOTOS BY THE SCHOFIELDS: 100% of your $5.00 donation to goes GHG. Have your family’s and friends’ (canine and human) picture taken to hold a memory for years to come. Photos are digital 4x6 and ready in minutes, so stop by the "Reunion Photo" area and say "Cheese" or “Perogi” if you are a native Pittsburgher.

GHG’s SALES TABLES: Treasures for greys and their guardians.

MUSIC: Jim Farrier will play the tunes and announce events all afternoon.

FOOD: Our own Bob Vanasdale will be cooking again. Monte Cello's of Zelienople will be sponsoring this years barbeque. Come hungry since we’ll have plenty of delicious grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, ribs, chicken & veggie kabobs!!!

AUCTIONS: Claim some greyt goodies our amazing Chinese and Silent Auctions. We have some special items this year that you won’t want to miss out on!

BAKE SALE: These treats delight any sweet tooth.

A successful reunion picnic requires an enormous amount of volunteer help. Volunteer for an hour, or for the day:

50/50: We are looking for a few people to walk around throughout the day selling tickets for the 50/50 raffle. If that sounds like fun to you, please contact Jerry Altic at 724-339-9699 or jerryaltic46@verizon.net.

Through their ‘Share the Spirit’ Charitable Giving Program, Southwest Airlines has made a very generous contribution to our GHG 2008 Reunion. We have received 2 passes for roundtrip transportation valid on any Southwest Airlines operated flight within the Continental United States (expires October 1, 2009) with no restrictions and no blackout dates! The value of these tickets is $800! Raffle tickets will be sold at the auction tables.
Only a limited number of these special raffle tickets will be sold at the Reunion to increase your chances of winning! Tickets will be available for $5 or 3 for $10 (3 tickets gives you a 1 in 83 chance to win!).

FOR THE AUCTIONS – If you would like to donate an item (or items) for either the Chinese or Silent Auction, please contact Sandy Strychor at 724-744-4064 / ssdk1106@comcast.net. Auction items do not need to be greyhound related. In the past people have been creative and donated hair products/services, movie tickets, gift certificates to restaurants, sport paraphernalia, etc. Remember; donors can provide business cards or brochures for us to display!

FOR THE BAKE SALE — We are “calling all cooks” out there to share their favorite desserts with the rest of us. If you can bring (bake or buy) a dessert that day, or volunteer to work at the table, please contact Laurie Conroy at 724-339-9699 or laurie.conroy@bipc.com.
