Thank you all for your kind thoughts, words, and extremely generous donatins for Eclipse! I am very moved and I know a simple "thank you" can not convey how we feel.
Darren and I do not have skin kids; only fur kids Highway (Reward Highway) and Eclipse (BL's Eclipse). We have had Eclipse for a year and a half. We found out that he sat in an adoption kennel in WV for a year because he was a black boy. When I found out he was related to Highway, I said I'd foster him! (I was fostering Beryl's Penske at the time too.) When Darren came back from his deployment, we adopted Eclipse.
He's quite a character. He is like a bad little boy outside with his greyhound friends; had to be muzzled because he liked to growl, nip, and bump his friends. But inside, he is an angel. He just loves to follow me around the house and sit on my feet when I sit down. He has licked both Highway's and a foster's boo boos for them, found a lost Italian greyhound, and never met a dog or cat he did not greet with a wagging tail. He likes to say "Woof!" when you ask if he wants food; even says it if asked if Highway wants food. LOL Highway just looks at me if I try to roo; but Eclipse always joins in. He makes some funny noises; not always a roo along. But he always joins in (if no one else is looking of course!) He is a sweet soul and a young, strong dog. (DOB 10/24/2001) So I hope he comes through this and is without the pain that front right leg is causing him.
Now I am working on setting up chemo with the vet that took care of him when we were at Dewey. I'm trying to coordinate Dr. Couto working with her. I'm learning so much and doing so much; my head is just whirling!! Eclipse was diagnosed only a week ago, but I know you have to move quickly because that os sure does!
Hi Beryl and Xracers (who I've met in person) (I met Jimmy at Dewey too!) and thank you Paisley's Dad and to everyone else for your prayers, kind words, donations of items and money. I feel like I am not alone in this!
Thank you,
Love,
Michelle, Darren, Highway and especially Eclipse

Shell that is what greyhound lovers do. They have so much love to give and they cannot let a hound in need down. As soon as I am able will get some pics posted of the thunder coats. I know Hilda has a nice one of Bankerman in the Patriotic one that I am putting up (maybe she will post it for me or we might be able to get Tom to post it here for me) and will probably put up some NasCar ones also.

Our big boy, Clark was diagnosed with osteo end of Feb and had his right rear leg amputated 1st week of March.
He had 4 treatments of chemo and came thru them fine. His appetite was only effected about the first two days and by that I mean he ate only about 1 1/2 cups twice a day instead of the usual 2 each time.
It is truly amazing how quickly they adapt, he was a little slow the first week. Learning that he could not lift the "only" back leg to pee ! but we were there to catch him and he quickly learned to adjust. It did not take him long to learn he could still race around the yard. After I had a few minor heart attacks watching him, I learned to let him go at his own pace. In fact at our annual group picnic he was running in the ball field with all the other "4" legged greys and kept up with them !!
I know your Eclipse will do fine, extra love, kisses and treats and knowing he has you will speed up his recovery.
Clark has had 2 follow ups, chest x-rays and a CBC panel and still doing fine. You always think "should I have done this" and the answer is YES. They recover so quickly and to see them enjoy whatever time they have left with us will verify your decision. Would I do this again if given the choice, without a doubt.
Hang in there, enjoy your time together. Will keep Eclipse in our prayers.

An e-mail I just found
Eclipse came home yesterday!! It was a rocky eve; up every 3 hours. But I kept taking him out to pee pee and giving him pain meds to help with the pain. I slept on a sleeping bag near him and on the couch; he was either on his bed or my sleeping bag. I'm tired but happy and I think he feels better today! I got a tail wag and a little roo when I rooed!!! LOL

Last night was even better. He's a bit uncomfortable and trying to lick his wounds. I threatened to put the cone on him if he did not stop! LOL At this point, licking is allowed, but no pulling out staples. I wonder if all that hair growing back is itchy too?

to feeling even better!

everyone!!!

He's been eating some chicken/beef/chicken stock I cooked for him. I
tried kibble but he did not want it yesterday. Should I try some in a
smaller amount? What else has fiber that I can feed him?

The latest news on Eclipse
HI! Eclipse got stitches out & is doing greyt!
Beryl
29th October 2008 - 11:06 PM
more info on Eclipse this was on Circle of Greys
Eclipse had his stitches out today. He has been doing well and Dr.
Neihaus (from the surgery center) said that he is fine. He even came to
put Eclipse in the car so he could see him jump in! I thought that was
really, really cool of him!!!
Highway has been sick too! He has pharangitis. He had swollen lymph
nodes, a red swollen throat, and a hacking cough. It has been in the
30s here the past 2 mornings, and I think it aggrivated his poor little
throat.
So both of my dogs are on antibiotics and pain meds!
Eclipse is 66 lbs plus and I'm trying to coordinate the chemo now. I
think we will do it this week? I'm anxious to get started to keep the
cancer monster from his lungs...

Eclipse got his healing blanket from the CoG Blanket Brigade today!!
Thank you so much!!! That was so sweet!!!!!! Eclipse liked it and his
uncle Highway is borrowing it for right now; seems to be helping with
the coughing from the pharangitis! You sent it just in time; we should
be doing chemo soon...
I got an email from Dr. Vilar in Dr. Couto's office--they are going to
send the chemo drugs! I was hoping for tomorrow or Sat; I guess the
vet's office will let me know...

E-mail from Michelle
Hi! E had chemo round 1 today. Uneventful, so that's good. He's been laying on the twin bed in the dog room while Way Way is crated. Highway got more meds from Dr. Chupp for his pharangitis; so his cough has finally stopped-at least for now

Eclipse had his first round of chemo yesterday! He seems fine. He did
lay on his right side (the boo boo side) last night. So getting up he
screamed. I don't know if it is because of the muscles still re
adjusting to the lack of leg; or because that leg was used to get the
chemo intraveinously. I just try to hug him and I'm still giving him
one Tramadol with breakfast and one with dinner. I did give him
Flagyl yesterday just to be sure. I think I'll save the rest of the
flagyl in case I need it.
