| I found some roofing shingles in our driveway. I don't know who's house the came from. Couldn't be ours, it's a tin roof. |
They might be mine, did you happen to find some kids tied to kites too?
I did see some pretty crazy stuff. Your kids might have flown by. I even thought I saw a cow!
I did get hit in the face with a leaf while walking one of the hounds, and it really hurt. I thought it had cut me.

A lot of people here are still without power, they have warming facilities set up and over night they were there for people to stay. They tried to get some of the homeless off the streets last night but quite a few of them opted out of the shelters.

Just remember there is still time for snow. I rember when I had Patti my youngest on 3/23/68 it snowed so bad I refused to go to the hospital either by car or Police who had chains on. On the 24 it started to melt and by 10 pm all the snow was gone that when I went into the hospital and Patti was born at 12:04 am. Shortest time I had in the hospital before delivery. I remember one Easter went into church and when we came out had quite a snow fall.

Liz walked to the DR and it was hysterical when my doc saw me he asked me what are you doing here. Told him I was in labor (this was my #6) he said no way I just saw you. He examined me and started screaming get her to the DR. Nurse asked if I wanted to walk what the heck it was faster than getting on a stretcher.

Just found out because of icy road conditions, there was an accident involving a tractor trailer and a van with 4 construction workers on their way to work.(I live on a hill overlooking the bridge that crosses the Shenandoah river). The van slid into the path of the tractor trailer killing all 4 workers. 1 still hasn't been identified.
My hound hauler is staying parked in the driveway till it all melts.
I hope everyone one is ok today. Please be careful!

When i was growing up and we lost power it was exciting! We'd get flashlights, candles, we had a wood burning stove to heat the house (old fashion and poor!), we'd play cards, and games... it was fun!

When I was younger in South Wales we did not have central heat but kept warm with fire places only had electricity in two rooms, no refrigerator, no gas stove we cooked in and over the fireplace. If you wanted to bake you had to light a fire in the dining room. If you wanted toast you had a long handled fork that you stuck the bread on and held it to the fire...

We had running water but not in the kitchen, it was in the pantry in the front next to the dining room, the loo you have to go out the kitchen door outside and it had running water. The farmer delivered milk from those large milk cans and it was not pausterized and sometimes it was still warm. The cream used to rise to the top and I would sneak into the pantry and run my finger across to get some cream.

I did go on holiday to Scotland and if she was over there when I was or even during the war she has a lot to tell you. The people of the UK went through hell and rationing was unbelievable to yanks. when I first came over here and walked into a small super market my chin dropped to my knees seeing all the food especially meat, eggs, etc as they were still rationed over there when I came here in 1948

Wow!!! How did you manage that? I wish I could sleep in. Well, actually, today the hounds did let me sleep till 6:45. The only reason they let me sleep is because they didn't want to go out because the ice was making so much noise hitting the tin roof all night.
