Hi all,
My name is Don and I live in country Victoria, Australia, with my wife,Raylene, and our pet greyhounds.
I have used the name "littlelapdog" because, about 10 years ago, I discovered greyhounds at a time when I was looking around for a little lap dog as a pet. As fate would have it, I then met my first greyhound up close and personal. It was love at first sight, of course.
That chance meeting has lead to some major changes in our lifestyle. We have changed our jobs, upsized to larger vehicles, and eventually had to sell our comfortable suburban house and build a new house on some land in the country to accommodate our growing family of greys.
We currently share our house with three adopted greyhounds plus one foster dog.
Our greys are Tillie, a 9-year old dark brindle. Tillie is the perfect lady. Then there is Wilma, a recently-adopted 10-year old black. Wilma is a real "Daddy's Girl" but she is a would-be alpha with the other greys. Lastly, we have a crazy 2-year old fawn-brindle pup called Karrie. Karrie has been with us since she was about 14 weeks old. Our present foster is a huge 41kgs or 90lbs) black 2-year old fun-loving boy called Simba. Simba loves everybody.
I look forward to pleasant company on this site.
Don.

Welcome, Don! I'm sure that Dad2Paisley will be along soon to give you a proper welcome. I read your story and just had to comment. It sounds so much like ours! First we upgraded my car to a hound hauler (never used to understand why people needed those things... now I NEED a bigger one), then we fenced in the yard that we said we would never fence because the little woodland creatures were here first. The little woodland creatures got to keep the orchard (their favorite part anyway,) the brush at the edge of the woods with the raspberries, and the entire front yard - the dogs got about 1/2 - 1/3 an Acre and they are pretty happy with that.
This is a wonderful board - I have always been way more open with the folks here than with any other board... this really is like a big family, occasional squirmishes over that AR/PR thing - but any extended family will fight - and we all like each other so we get over it. I think you will fit right in!

Don. That was a very nice introduction. Yes, greyhounds have a way of changing your life. Something about having a Cheetah gliding around the house.

Welcome, Don, and welcome to all your hounds! Your screen name's not too far off the mark, 'cause we all know most of the greys think they're lap dogs anyway

. Maybe a name edit? to biglapdog, or xllapdog, or delusions-of-being-a-lapdog

.
Anyway, welcome again, and I look forward to seeing pictures of the greys and your lovely Country!

Gryphon's going to be super disappointed if greyhounds aren't lapdogs.

We also have a lap dog named Hershey who decided at Dewey last year at the Memorial at the Life Guard Station to walk the bench and crawl into some friend's laps from New York. To this day they are talking about her and want her. She also hogs the bed and is the first one in.
