Does your greys like to eat grass? Ours love too. I keep telling them that they aren't cows.
Besides the occasional throw up of the grass, is it bad for them to do this. We don't treat our lawn or put down any lawn fertilizer.

As far as I know, as long as there aren't any chemicals on the grass, there's nothing wrong with it.

Mine eat grass occasionally. They were both pretty big grazers this spring so I upped the amount of green tripe I was feeding them and it settled down to an occasional thing. I have to watch for fox tails since I couldn't weed & feed this year, but that's about it.

Grass eating isn't bad unless they do it excessively. No one knows for sure why. There's lots of speculation. Everything from needing some nutrients (which grass has little of) to needing to throw up. Some say that wolves would eat the stomach contents of the grass eating prey they killed and so dogs eat grass as a throw back since they don't kill deer and the like anymore. Who knows really.

Larson always loved to graze and was very selective about which grass he wanted to eat. I suspect he just liked the taste, truth be told!

Will go with the consensus of as long as there's no chemicals on the grass, you're probably fine.

I will add a warning, however, that grass doesn't digest very well, and sometimes it causes problems at the far end of the hound as a result...

Both of my girls do it all the time. Gus, however, never eats it.

Black Jack TRIES to eat grass all the time I was out of town this weekend so he had an all you can eat salad bar while my dad was watching them. Needless to say, I pulled a small island out of his butt the night I got back.

It seems like they like all types of grass. When we were in NJ, they were so excited and ate some of their grass. Is it really that different.

Hmm... Ace eats grass every once in a while. The IGs rarely eat the stuff.
