Full Version: Lost Greyhound in Mars, PA
Beryl
Our group Going Home Greyhounds send e-mails out to members who have registered their e-mail addy and this is one I just received;

We have a lost red and white female greyhound named Izzy. She's been
out for a few hours and was last spotted around 8pm off Myoma Rd
heading away from 228. She is young (just turned 2 in February) and
on the shy side. She has slipped her collar. She likes squeeky toys
and may come to another dog before a person. A worker who was at the
house today left the front gate un-latched. She lives on Forsythe Rd.
and has been seen earlier at a lake off the side of that road and
we're hoping she may go back there to get water.

If you live in the area and get a sighting, can help search or posting
flyers, please call Erika at 412-389-5334 or Elaine at 412-974-5306.

Thank you!

GHG also receives messages about other dogs that are lost and are kind enough to post to members.

Mr Viva Zidane (Dan) did this yesterday. My kitchen being ripped out and I let him out in the garden and then when I went get him, he gone throught side kitchen door and out of the front (workmen left gate open). Found him a few streets away and he invited himself in this woman's house who he met at mine a few months ago. Don't ask how he found where he lived because I sure as hell didn't know where she did. huh.gif

Took him 35 seconds to complete that run off. which her home and street was 5 minutes away.

Hope she comes home safely. Maybe someone has taken her to the kennels or pound. Be praying for her too

YES SHE IS HOME LOOK AT WHAT I JUST RECEIVED FROM GHG

We are glad to be able to tell everyone that Izzy is home tonight
snuggling on her dog bed only suffering from a few foot wounds. There
were some sightings yesterday (Monday) until about 9:30pm when she
took off into the woods. Today was spent posting flyers and not
hearing a word about where she might be wondering. We headed out into
the area this evening where she was last spotted and about 1/4 mile
into the trails there she was just standing there. Thankfully Melissa
had experience and knew how to talk sweetly and calmly to her offering
a "cookie" just like "mom" would do which kept Izzy standing there
still and approachable. Then, her greyhound sister Katrina was
brought around the other side slowly by Curt until they spotted each
other and touched noses. It was that moment Curt was able to slip the
leash around her neck and we all wanted to jump for joy. It was truly
amazing how fast it happened....going into the woods around 7pm and
out with her on leash by 7:25! Here are a few words of thanks from
her mom, Erika:

To all my fellow greyhound lovers. I want to thank you from the
bottom of my heart for all your efforts in bringing my Izzy back to
me. I have never seen an organization of people pull together like
Going Home Greyhounds to help in the return of a special friend. I
wasn't very optimistic about the recovery, and everyone I dealt with
continued to say we will get her back. Thanks to my special friends,
Melissa & Curt for the actual recover. They handled it like pros.
Also a very big thanks to Jeanne and Elaine for helping to organize
and make soooooo many phone calls to get the word out. They truly
know how to handle this situation. Elaine & I ran through the fields
in tears of joy when my cell phone rang and Melissa said "WE GOT HER"!

Izzy is fast asleep on her bed exhausted and we can all sleep easier
tonight knowing she's safe.

Please continue to check your gates at home. Make sure they are
locked at all times.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you......and you all know who you are!

Erika

emo-confetti.gif GHG has had greyt results in their lost dog searches. I do not know if it is their e-mails to members, their door to door seaching, posting and handing out flyers when going door to door. They had one that was missing for a while. They found out where she was bedding down and even evidence of meals - turkey feathers. They put up an humane trap with food, water and a blanket and she very nicely pulled out the blanket got the food and water and was not caught. They finally caught her by hanging garlic laced chicken in the back of the crate. I can't remember if this was the one that took off when she was at the vet for spaying. That gal figured you ain't doing that to me!

I love a happy ending.
Beryl
yes those happy endings are greyt I usually start yelling when I get a message one has been found and the furkids come flying to see what is up with their crazy mom. GHG has been know to give 3 or more updates in a day. They usually let you know where there is a sighting and I think this is greyt so that the volunteers that are searching have a general idea where they might be hanging out.
