7/31/1777 - Marquis de Lafayette was granted the rank of major-general of the U.S. during the American Revolution.

8/1/1776 - The formal signing of the Declaration of Independence took place.

8/1/1876 - Colorado was admitted as the 38th state of the Union.

8/1/1779 - Francis Scott Key was born.

8/2/1610 - Henry Hudson sailed into the Hudson Bay.

8/2/1943 - John F. Kennedy was aboard PT-109 when it sunk.

I love Colorado. I was there three years ago, but it took me a few days to adjust to the air levels. It was hard to breathe, my inhaler got a workout.
