Full Version: Foster Poagie

meet Poagie, 2 year old male

its the only picture i have for now, its off the kennel website.... i'll try to get some of him tomorrow, he's afraid of everything right now, yes even his own shadow! he saw his reflection in a window during a walk and acted like a fish out of water, which is one reason he is being walked on a harness and not a martingale because he has the ability to back out of a collar in a second, just trying to get him into the front door without him backing out of it was a challenge
Al and Poagie get along just fine so that's a plus
i'll post more pictures and some updates soon! oh, and any advice on how to work with skittish dogs will be greatly appreciated, my other foster wasn't so much of a challenge so this is new to me, i've gotten some good advice but the more the merrier!

Poagie is gorgeous. emo-wub.gif

What a handsome boy. Hopefully he will adapt to home life. I remember Softee was very skitish when we first got her and we just kept everything on an even keel and tried not to introduce her to too many things at one time. We always allowed her access to the upstairs where she could hide out until things got back to the way she liked it. I could not have any male visitors with her for the longest time not even my own sons she would fly unstairs to her refuge.

If you want some advice on working with difficult ones, talk to Gwen... shes my #1 on myspace.

Matter of fact she fostered one of the dogs "forever homed" by one of the members here. wink.gif

Poagie is so handsome ... good luck with the fostering, but can you spell c-h-i-p LOL. (I know I would be)

How is Poagie doing?
Redstripe
Poagie is doing better day by day.... he's really gotten into the toys and will carry them from room to room in a cute lil' trot! and he has to have all them (including cat toys) on his bed before he goes to sleep...

he's still scared of most everything but his reactions are getting calmer to them... his leash skills are getting better but still need some work...

All in all he'll make a good second or third grey for someone!

Thanks for asking!

Poagie went back to the kennel today. After fostering Poagie we know he needs to be listed as special needs so hopefully this will keep him from bouncing..... Poagie wasn't an easy foster to let go, if i had the ablility to keep him i would have failed foster 101... this one was just hard to let go because i'm going to worry about him and his new enviroment..

but as soon as he has found a new home and i hear from his new owners i'll post an update!

dad2paisley
Ok, sounds good.
Beryl
Will be waiting to hear about him emo-angelic001.gif that he will soon have his forever home
