Full Version: Re-Intro
greyhoundmama
Hi all,

The new board looks great!

For those who don't know me from before, I'm a former computer person. I chucked my old life a few years ago, bought an RV, and have been traveling the country creating a new life as an artist. I'm currently camped in Washington state on an 11 acre sheep farm. The owner is an artist who can't work much anymore due to illness, so in exchange for helping with chores and paying my utilities, I camp for free and have access to a studio!!!

I'm mostly doing quirky, whimsical dog images these days, and showing them at dog shows and greyhound events.

I have a retired greyhound named Gryffin, who is the light of my life. He's almost seven years old! How could my baby be almost a senior already!!! He's white and reddish/brownish/sable-ish.

I also have four Italian greyhounds, three of whom are rescues.

Merlin is a blue, and is five years old. He broke a leg about three months ago and has healed beautifully. He's my snuggle bug, and one of the smartest, most spoiled dogs I've ever met. I simply adore him.

Luna is a blue fawn, who I adopted after she'd been lanquishing in foster care for months. Her owner was dying of terminal cancer, and as a result, Luna has some separation issues. She's funny, and really attentive. If only I were into agility, she'd rock at it I think!

Willow is a TINY seal girl, who I adopted almost three years ago. She was found as a stray, and was in foster care for about six months. Apparently, she was so shy it was pathetic. She was already coming out of her shell beautifully when I met her, and our travels have helped. She gets to meet tons of people and dogs, and is a total charmer.

Walker is my most recent addition. He was abused, bit his abuser, and his owner wanted him put down. A woman got him out, and thought he was a sweety, so offered him to rescue. They turned him down because of the bite history, but when I offered to transport him into a private rescue, I ended up falling in love with him.

Five is more than enough, but I count myself lucky to have each and every one of them.

Thanks all.

Aren't those air cards great? I'm online from my RV, which is parked out here in the country. I love the accessability!

Hi Karen! Welcome back! Yeah sure... You're finally in Washington after I moved! What's up with that?! Just kidding. I hope you're liking it there. Have you gone to any Iggy Ambassador playdates, yet? Those Seattle people are funny! I miss them. Anyway, I'm glad you're back on EG!

Is Gryffin's info on Greyhound-Data?

Thanks, all. Yes, Gryffin's info is in the database. His racing name was Right of Way, and I updated it awhile back with a photo and a little info on his "new" life as a retiree. I think there's an older dog named Right of Way, so if several come up, my guy is the one who's sire is Right Connection, and who's dam is Lady Molotov (a Molotov daughter, if I recall).

I've tried to get to the iggy ambassador playdates, but they seem to fall on show weekends. :(

P.S. what are Air Cards?

Air Cards are Verizon's version of Cellular Broadband. Other communication companies have them also under a different name. It's not super fast broadband but it makes up for it in coverage. You don't have to be in a Wireless "zone" or hooked up to DSL or Cable. Generally, if you can talk on your cell phone, you can get to the Internet with it. biggrin.gif
