dad2paisley
Do you all want get together one night and have a drink and some food? Ideas?
JudiK
Like - at Dewey?

Just noticed that it's in the Dewey forum. So what about Sharkey's? The dogs can come there...
greydaddy
That would be fun and cool to meet.
dad2paisley
We should do this and beryl, I want have a greyhound drink with you biggrin.gif
Beryl
We will figure out a place for that greyhound drink. Do the new members know what it is? If not it is Vodka and Grapefruit Juice. Why is it called a Greyhound?
It hits you fast so if you have any please be careful and do them in moderation.

I guess we will have to exchange numbers, etc when we get closer to DEWEY Time. D2P maybe we can do this as an annual thing of meeting at Dewey....

Sharkey's is cool!!!!!! emo-eatdrink052.gif
JudiK
Sharkey's is only good for breakfast though - I'm not even sure that they do lunch. There is, however a Pub (O'Brian's?) which is across the street from the Sand Palace and they also welcome greyhounds, but there isn't a lot of room. I always worry about the dogs getting stepped on - I wouldn't bring my whole pack there.

Edited to note that I can't think of a place where the dogs won't get stepped on - so if we go out for a drink, maybe it should be without dogs... but the whole reason that we go to Dewey is to spend time with the dogs. So - if the weather isn't freezing, we'd be willing to host a BYOB function under our condo. If everyone brings a beach chair and x-pens (if you have 'em.) I'm offering under the condo because I think that all of our dogs are going to be stressed in the condo. A three bedroom beach condo is not that big when there are four greyhounds, four adults and two children in residence. We rent 115A Rainbow Cove - it is the first condo in the second row of condos when you enter Rainbow Cove on Dagsworthy Street. We'll just pull the cars out and park them on the street someplace and we can sit and visit. We can even being in food from someplace - Grotto, Crabs - we can figure that out when we get there...On Saturday night, we always watch the hounds enter the costume ball, then wander down to the Greyhounds in Art show... We could get together in the afternoon, have dinner - then go up to watch the costume ball (at the end of our street), then walk down to Greyhounds in Art...

That sounds great Judi. emo-th_cool1.gif What does everyone else think?

Hi Judy

I know Sharkey does breakfast and lunch but if I remember from other years he's not really open in the evening. Unless that changes. How nice of you to offer getting together at your place, sounds great. Nice pizza and sandwich shope nearby.

Hope to see you there,

Linda

Chris - Gil is welcome - I like him and have such respect for all he does for the hounds, but I don't know about his buddy, Mr. Monkey... I'll have an 11 year old granddaughter and a three year old granddaughter in residence - the monkey dude is rather "R" rated, isn't he?? U-m-m-m, maybe Gil can heavily sedate Mr. Monkey? I always have Valium around for Rose (and the little needle-less syringe for administering anally - it's one of my hobbies since I adopted her.) Actually we're having a cluster-seizure day today, she has had three since midnight. I've done the valium thing twice now, it's kind of like sewing and macrame as it takes a certain level of skill and practice to squish it up, make it into a paste - not an enema, but a paste, load it into the syringe, administer it, and keep it in there long enough to do it's job. Let me know if you need help with drugging Mr. Monkey, I'm not one to brag - but I'm getting pretty good at it.

Gee - and I thought it would be too much information if I shared HOW you keep it from coming back out... you know how it is, teachers gotta teach!
And I have half a century under my belt - I've earned those grandchildren, but it's very kind of you to question it.

I was just sitting here thinking and just remembered that across from the Rusty Rudder (same side of street and parking lot) there is a restaurant that has a bar and tables outside. The last few years they have always left us bring our greys and sit at the outside tables (quite a few) and order meals or sandwiches. The wait staff never complains about the dogs and they do step over many of them to get orders.

Jimmy, do you remember if that is the Rusty Rudder also? Its right next to where they will have the art show, there's also a coffee shop that will allow the dogs to come in.

Any way, just another idea or some place to check out. But Judi's idea seems pretty good too.

It certainly won't hurt my feelings if we find a better place than my carport!
greydaddy
darn too bad I can't come to Dewey this year. Have fun. Lots of pictures are needed!!
mountain4greys
Greydaddy, I was hoping you'd be there this year so we could meet. I'd really like to meet as many EG'ers as I can, and Dewey is so huge, this would be the place. Maybe at another function.

Linda,

I can't remember what was by the Rusty Rudder, it's been a while. But I usually spent all my time in the Rusty Rudder and didn't see to much else. LOL

Judi,

Maybe you could bring your carport to Dewey. We'll hang out there.

By the carport, I was referring to the parking area under the condo that I rent in Dewey... that is the place that I offered for us to meet, it holds 4 cars, 2 front and 2 back - but two of them belong to the condo upstairs.
mountain4greys
Now that's an idea. smile.gif

Hi Everybody,

We had our Meet & Greet today along with Jimmy and we were, of course, discussing DEWEY. My husband informed me that the
restaurant I was talking about is in fact the Rusty Rudder. Oh well, I can't always be right (just most of the time) ha! ha!

Where the breakfast is located and the coffee house is the Ruddertowne Complex.

Can't wait to meet everyone.

Linda
dad2paisley
Judi, could we have the time and directions to your condo for our get together. I can't wait, it's going to be fun.
JudiK
I can't find the Saturday night costume ball on the calendar this year!! I think it used to start at 6:30 or 7:00. Let's go out for pizza at 4:00, shall we gather at 2:00 or so? Then we'll go up the street for pizza between 4:00 and 4:30, eat between 5 and 6 and either go to the Costume Ball at 6:30 or the Greyhounds in Art show. (If they are having the ball, we'll watch the hounds go in - in costume - then we'll walk up to the Greyhounds in Art show.)

Our condo is the first one in the second row os condos from the street. Go to Dagsworthy Street and turn towards the bay. Rainbow Cove is the only condo set on the right. When you come in the entrance, just walk past the ones facing onto Dagsworthy Street to the row directly behind. Ours is on the second floor (over the garage), in the very first unit. 115A - but we'll probably be out in the garage when you arrive. You'll need to bring chairs and x-pens. We rent this condo, we don't own it, so we don't have anything there.

Wow, I just may have to drive over for the day to say HI!!!
