Full Version: First Aid Tricks
Beryl
Here are some first aid tricks I have used on my 6 skin kids and of course my fur kids I will * what I have used on both

1. Freeze wet (old or new - your choice) wash cloths will mold around boo boo*
2. Freeze wet tea towel or hand towels will also mold around boo boo have used these on leg injuries.*
3. Need to get into a place that is awkard get a clean empty dish soap bottle
fill with water or what ever you are using to clean it and squeeze away*
4. Newpaper sleeves we have used these to cover boo boo so that they do not
get dirty. I have a picture of Softee wearing one when she had an infected
nail bed.

Hope this helps and someone else can add some hints.
The ice packs will store flat in your freezer and are not bulky. I use baggies for the wash cloths and newspaper sleeves for the towels. You can also use old white tube socks. We cut them up the side and have even used them for warm compresses and for cleaning boo boos.

Here is the picture of Softee with her newpaper sleeve when she had the infected nail bed. The weather was cool and she loves to wear the feece coats that I made them so we were able to pin the sleeve to the coat for her to go outside and keep her bandage clean and dry.

Thank you I just wanted to share some tricks I have used.

I did forget to mention about bleach. We sanitize as much as possible. When I was the furkids feeding bowls I add bleach to my dish water. Also when my grandson had a tummy virus when he was about 18 months old we sanitized everything that he came in contact with. We used a solution of bleach and soapy water used on the tub, playpen, dishes and even on his clothesl. His aunt did not sanitize when her daughter got sick with it and she ended up in the hospital for a week.

Thanks for the good tips.

Thanks for the good tips.

You are welcome when you have had 6 skin kids you come up with some goofy ideas that unusally work and try them out on your furkids. The ice pack my skin kids did not want to use until they got older but the frozen towels and wash cloths/tube socks I had not problems with.
